magic239 Mother's Love 1
The place was exactly like what Lian Fang had described to them. The Yan estate was small and old with a traditional design. It gave the impression of a well preserved building, withstanding several generations. Unlike Shenzhen, the weather in Nanchang City had a sub-tropical monsoon climate with abundant sunshine and rainfall.
Summer was about to end in Nanchang. However, it was still hot and muggy in Tang Moyu's opinion, forcing her to shed her outer coat and let the evening breeze cool her down. Even Feng Tianyi had ditched his blanket and released the top buttons of his shirt in an attempt to deal with the warm weather of the city.
Lian Fang's niece greeted them just outside the Yan estate when they arrived, clearly expecting their arrival.
"Mr. Qin, Miss Tang. I'm Jia Guanting. My aunt has informed me about your arrival." She then opened the main gate of the Yan estate, letting the two come inside. "I'll be leaving you two to look around. You can find me in the house on the left side of this estate. There's a pathway connecting the two houses, so you should be able to find me easily."
Feng Tianyi thanked the old woman and watched her retreating back until she was out of sight while Tang Moyu stood outside, her eyes scanning the place with curiosity. So this was her mother's home, the place where Yan Qiuyu had lost her life.
The wooden door was still intact although it was hard to open from the outside due to the years of not being inhabited. Just as Lian Fang said, the place was kept tidy for her return although Tang Moyu had no idea this place existed until now.
She walked to the hallway and reached the small living area, where the furniture was covered with sheets to protect them from dust. When she didn't hear Feng Tianyi following her, Tang Moyu returned to the front door and found him there.
The floor inside the house was a little elevated from the outside and Feng Tianyi wasn't able to wheel himself inside.
"Do you need help?" She asked, finding his conflicted expression a little amusing. He probably cursed himself again for not being able to walk on his own.
"Please?" Feng Tianyi hated that he had to depend on others, but somehow, when he was with Moyu, she made him feel like it wasn't too bad to be dependent. She smiled at him and wordlessly helped him to move around until he was able to go inside with her.
More than twenty years have passed and the Lian family has done a good job of keeping the estate clean and tidy. Although everything was old, everything around them seemed to retain their integrity over the years.
Feng Tianyi took a picture frame from one of the side tables and gave it a good look. The old Lian Fang wasn't joking when she said that Moyu resembled her mother a lot. Yan Qiuyu had a face that one couldn't ignore easily. It reminded him of an innocent forest nymph, greeting a tired traveler who got lost in his journey.
In the faded colored photo, Yan Qiuyu was holding two children in both her arms. One was Tang Moyu, the other her twin brother. It was dated months before the woman lost her life, leaving her daughter alone in this cruel world.
Yan Qiuyu seemed to be immune to aging, her skin was almost as flawless as the empress's and her hair in soft waves was black as midnight. No wonder the aloof Tang Lixue had fallen head over heels for this woman, the devil thought.
"She's beautiful." Feng Tianyi said as he glanced at his woman, who was also busy surveying the picture frames of toddlers neatly placed on the wall across them.
He allowed the silence to linger between them. As Tang Moyu continued to search for her birth mother in the hanged photos, her tears rolled down her cheeks. A particular photo caught her attention, one where Yan Qiuyu was holding a sleeping girl in her arms, pressing her small head over her chest, kissing her crown.
Yan Qiuyu had loved her… cared for her as if she was her little treasure.
Tang Moyu who had been deprived of love, who had been working hard to be recognized by her parents all her life, suddenly felt that her world was spinning. She was loved from the start and she didn't need to prove anything for her birth mother to love her.
One hand covering her mouth as she staggered back. The reality that she was once loved and cherished by the woman who gave birth to her was an overwhelming discovery.
In contrast to Zhang Wuying's sharp words and eyes that were filled with animosity, Yan Qiuyu held baby Moyu with so much love and gentleness, that it was evident even in a photo as old as this one. Tang Moyu felt like she'd been a fool to chase after the wrong person the whole time.
"Moyu…" Feng Tianyi held unto her arm as she let out the sorrow and pain she was feeling.
He understood where she was coming from. Didn't he feel the same when his father cast him aside, forgetting about him when Tianhua was born?
He felt the pain of betrayal, the need to prove himself that he was worthy of his father's love and attention too, but all was for naught because Feng Tianyi had always been a disappointment to his father.
That even his deathbed, he'd chosen his bastard son over him, denying his birthright as the rightful heir.
