Mother's Love 2

Tang Moyu's eyes were filled with regret that she couldn't spend enough time with Yan Qiuyu. She must have been a loving mother and a good friend, based on Lian Fang's stories. It made her wonder if Yan Qiuyu's death wasn't as simple as a break-in turned homicide. How convenient for Zhang Wuying that the woman who held her husband's heart was suddenly gone for good one night.

She'd read the police reports and the news clippings of the tragedy that had befallen her mother and twin brother. While there wasn't anything suspicious about it, Tang Moyu had a nagging feeling that there was something more to it, that she'd only seen the tip of an iceberg.

What were the odds that it was a premediated murder and the culprits had planted evidence to fool everyone? After all, even if she and Tang Lingjun were Tang Lixue's illegitimate children, they were still Tangs by blood. It would only make sense why someone would hate them.

Illegitimate as they may be, for wealthy families like the Tang family, even those born of a mistress would surely have the rights to fight for inheritance. Was it the Tang family or the Zhangs? Tang Moyu wondered.

Her twin brother might be a threat to the future heir of the Tangs if ever Zhang Wuying conceived a child, but why wasn't it the same case for Tang Moyu, the older twin? In this patriarchal society, did they really think a daughter would be useless?

Regarding Yan Qiuyu and Tang Lingjun's death, who ripped the most benefit from it? It was obviously Zhang Wuying, but why would she raise Tang Moyu if she was one responsible for it? That also made the Elder Tang suspicious in the empress's eyes. It was impossible for the old man not to be aware of his son's affairs, considering how selfish and controlling he was.

Tang Moyu had taken several photo albums from her mother's room before leaving the house with Feng Tianyi. After greeting Jia Guanting, thanking her for her assistance today, the two drove towards the small villa that the Song family owned in Nanchang City.

Tang Moyu was unusually silent in Feng Tianyi's opinion, but he didn't want to nag her about it. Her solemn eyes watched the dark scenery zoom by. They had arrived at the villa just in time before heavy downpour started in Nanchang City. There was a meal ready for dinner waiting for them.

The two ate in silence and she looked out the window, watching the rain drench everything in its wake. The weather was as gray as her mood as she thought about how she had lost her chance of having a loving mother.

Should she find Elder Tang to know more? But what if he was involved in her mother's death? What then?

Tang Moyu had silently retired to one of the guest rooms prepared for her by the villa's housekeeper while Feng Tianyi took the room across hers. Her silence was starting to make him worry as he had no idea what was going through her mind right now.

Feng Tianyi had trouble falling asleep on his bed, constantly rolling on his sides, trying to find a comfortable position to sleep, though it was futile. Suddenly, he heard a knock on his door, followed by the empress's voice, asking if she could enter. He immediately sat up and responded, not wanting to keep her waiting.

"Come in."

magic The door creaked open and Tang Moyu stepped inside, dressed in sweats and an overly large shirt that clearly wasn't hers, with her hair down. For a moment, Feng Tianyi thought that he was looking at Little Star, but that image was automatically overwritten when he saw the empress walk towards him and sat on the same bed as him.

"What's the matter?" He asked curiously. "Can't sleep in an unfamiliar place?"

"You can say that." Tang Moyu admitted. "Can I sleep here with you?"

Feng Tianyi stared at her with wide eyes, shocked at her request. Since that night when she slept on his bed with her little buns, he had assumed that there wouldn't be a next time, and yet, here she was providing another chance. This time however, was much better because he wouldn't have to share her with anyone, not even the lovable little buns.

"Are you sure? You know, Moyu. I can't sleep on the couch." He pointed out, his tone one with amusement.

"You think I can?" The empress scoffed. "No one's taking the couch. I'm sleeping here." She said in defiance before taking the other side of the bed, burying herself under the sheets.

Did she even realize what she was doing? Didn't she know that she was testing his patience and self-control?

'Ah, Moyu. You are really good at pushing me to the edge, aren't you?' He thought.

Shaking his head, he turned off the lights and laid next to her to sleep. He could sense her uneasiness. Whether it was because she was sleeping in an unfamiliar place or because of what she discovered today, Feng Tianyi wasn't sure.

It didn't take long before he felt her shift beneath the sheets and wrapped her arms around his torso and buried her face into his chest as she sobbed quietly.

Feng Tianyi sighed and patted her head. This was better than forcing her to tell him what bothered her. At least, she had sought his presence to calm the turbulence in her heart. There were other ways to let her know how much he loved her anyway.
