Chapter 239 : She Has Arrived
“I’ll be there soon. Please wait for a second.”
As soon as Yao Tang answered the call, she immediately speaks, waving her concern away.
The young woman didn’t even wait to respond when she hung up the phone. After making a rough estimate, she got on her bicycle and prepared to ride to the testing site. Her eyes were narrowed, looking like a woman on a mission.
However, just as she was about to leave, she heard a voice calling out for her, “Young lady, where do you think you’re going?”
When the policeman saw how fast she was, his heart skipped a beat. He immediately drove down the road to chase after her. It didn’t take long for him to catch up as he anxiously grabbed onto the handle.
Yao Tang immediately halted.
“Young lady, you’ve just gone over the speed limit. You’re not allowed to do that.”
Remembering that the lady had made a call earlier, he comforted, “If you’re in a hurry to head to class now, then there’s no need. Your safety is far more important than your attendance. I’m sure your teacher will understand.”
Thinking about how anxiously she had driven right past him, he was still worried. “Young lady, why don’t I go with you? Help you explain things to your teacher?”
“It’s fine, really. I’m just here to participate in the competition. It’s around two blocks from here anyway.”
Yao Tang pointed at the building from afar, waving her hand in dismissal.
Upon hearing her say that, he widened his eyes. “Oh, are you here to participate in the Olympiad Math Competition?”
A few days ago, the police station received a notice that No. 1 High School will be holding its very first Olympiad Math Competition. It was their job to ensure that every student would get there in time while keeping the traffic all in line.
He motioned to his motorcycle.
“Then I’ll send you there! It’s best we hurry!”
Yao Tang’s gaze was indifferent. Seeing his actions, she instead stepped on her bicycle pedal and sped toward No. 1 High School.
The traffic police only felt a gust of wind when she disappeared without a trace.
In the No. 1 exam room of the Olympiad math competition, everyone was quiet.
Yao Ran was seated in the second to the last row, her gaze falling onto the seat in front of her.
They were all seated according to their last name. As such, Yao Ran was supposed to be seated behind her. Yet, it seemed that the woman was nowhere to be found.
Her lips twitched.
The examiner also seemed like someone she knew back in the restaurant. Her eyes narrowed at the nametag on the woman’s shirt. Yu Shu.
Yao Tang only had less than a minute to enter the exam room. At this point, it would be impossible for her to enter the room. Yao Ran’s smile widened.
She hoped that she wouldn’t arrive, especially for such an important competition.
Half a minute had already passed.
Ten... nine..
Three... two... one..
Seeing that the last second had passed, Yao Ran finally sighed in relief. It was over. She hadn’t come over.
However, just then, Yao Tang appeared by the entrance.
Yao Ran tightened her grip on the pen, digging her fingernails into her palm so much so that her knuckles had turned white. Why the heck was she there?
However, just as Yao Tang was about to enter the classroom, someone raised his hand. “Teacher, the entrance deadline had passed by one second. I don’t think she should be entering.”
She smirked.
She recognized the man’s voice to be a classmate of hers. It seemed that he had also come to participate in the Olympiad Math Competition.
It was the same boy who claimed to have a crush on Yao Ran.
Yao Ran had always been so annoyed by this boy, but now, she couldn’t help but grin. It’s a good thing that she didn’t explicitly express her disgust toward the boy.
With this thought in mind, Yao Ran cast a grateful glance at him and followed everyone’s gaze to Yu Shu.
Upon catching Yao Ran’s look, the boy was instantly filled with power.
“Teacher, it’s a serious competition, we shouldn’t be bending the rules for her. Examinees like her don’t take this exam seriously at all. Why don’t you think she’s late?”
Yu Shu smirked.
It seemed that she had won this time around.
