Chapter 659   - Life Without You (1)

Two weeks had passed since Tang Beixuan's death. Although his remains had been cremated and was given to Zhang Wuying, returning to their daily lives had been a great challenge for Tang Moyu, her whole family and Li Meili. Because she needed a few weeks to recover from her injuries, she would be staying at home with her children while Feng Tianyi would cover her work at Xiao Xing.

"Mommy, are you still sad?" Little Star appeared next to Tang Moyu's wheelchair as they spent their afternoon in the vast garden of the Feng mansion. She was holding a bunch of flowers that she picked up from the garden while Hunter was tailing Xiao Bao around as they continued to play ball.

Since her accident that involved their Uncle Beixuan and Auntie Wanwanas well, their mommy had been unusually silent as if her mind was always somewhere else. She was physically with them, yet Xiao Bao and Little Star felt that she wasn't here with them.

They could only assume that she was still saddened by the fact that Uncle Beixuan had passed away and she was having a hard time accepting it.

Tang Moyu gave her daughter a weak smile and looked at the flowers in Little Star's hand. She didn't want to lie to her children, but she wasn't ready to discuss Tang Beixuan's death as the wound was still too fresh for her.

"Is that for me, darling? They are really beautiful." She asked Little Star.

Although she was a person who didn't take a fancy to flowers, she had to admit that the flowers that grew here were exceptionally beautiful. Little Star shook her head and her hair swayed along with it, an action that made Tang Moyu notice how much longer her daughter's hair had grown since they came back. It now reached past her waist with its end curling slightly.

"I want to give it to Uncle Beixuan, Mommy. Uncle loves flowers the most." Little Star replied, which was right. Unlike Tang Moyu, Tang Beixuan had taken a liking to flowers and knew what they meant.

The end of Tang Moyu's lips turned down as she looked away from her daughter, digging her nails into her palm. Since her brother was cremated, there was no way for them to give respect or visit him anymore. The memory of the last day of his funeral was the only thing left for Tang Moyu as she grieved for her brother.

"Mommy, don't be sad anymore." Little Star told her mother. "Yu Gege, me and will never leave you." She promised Tang Moyu.

Tang Moyu was moved by her words and then shut her eyes, hiding her tears from her daughter. She understood how intense grief could ruin one's family. Wasn't this what happened to her own father when he lost her mother?

Tang Moyu didn't want to repeat that same mistake. She reminded herself that there were still people who needed her. Her children were too young to be left to their own accord and her husband had just fully recovered and would still need her assistance in running the company they both started.

"Moyu, I cannot afford to lose you." She remembered Feng Tianyi's confession after her confrontation with Zhang Wuying and seeing her brother for the last time. He was reminding her that although she had lost her brother, she was still needed by him and their young children. She cannot allow herself to be drowned in her own grief, neglecting the needs of her family and loved ones.

"I know, darling. Mommy will always be here for you too." She promised Little Star. "Mommy just needs some time to rest."

"Then I will accompany you, Mommy. Are you hungry? Auntie Wanwan and I made some cookies earlier." Little Star grinned at her mother.

"Really? Then I would like to try some if it's alright." Tang Moyu replied, making her daughter extremely happy with her initiative.

"Okay! Wait here, Mommy and don't go anywhere while I'm gone, okay! I'll bring you some snacks!" Little Star said with glee before running back inside the mansion to find her nanny to help her prepare her mother's afternoon snacks. She made a mental note to give her mother an extra share since Tang Moyu had been eating less these days, making her and her brother worry about her.

Once she was gone, Xiao Bao walked towards his mother and glanced at the direction his twin sister had disappeared. At least now, their mommy was looking better compared to the past days when they barely see her out of her room and talking to them.

"Should I help her?" He asked her mother.

"You don't have to. I'm sure Auntie Lu would be able to help her." Tang Moyu assured him, watching his expression carefully. With each passing day, Xiao Bao was becoming more and more like his father. From the way he scrunched his face up to the smile on his face, a little more and Tang Moyu was sure that he would steal a lot of hearts someday.

"How about you? Don't you have anything to give me?" She asked curiously.

Xiao Bao shrugged and took a seat across her and cupped his chin with one hand.

"Little Star already made cookies for you, Mommy. I'll make you something next time. What do you like to eat?"

"Hn, that's quite hard to think, Baobao." Tang Moyu smiled at her son. "Can you give mommy a little time to think about it?"

"Sure!" The little boy easily yielded to his mother's request. As long as he was able to make her happy and wouldn't see her cry anymore, he was willing to do anything. "Just tell me when you've decided, okay? I will ask Daddy to help me in the kitchen."

The empress hummed. Since she still had her neck brace, her movement was still limited. At least she wasn't alone, unlike Li Meili who was surely mopping on her own.
