Chapter 652 - Goodbye, Beloved (2)
"What do you mean he isn't breathing?" Feng Tianyi asked him with widened eyes. He then looked at Tang Beixuan and placed a hand on top of his c.h.e.s.t, but just as Zhang Jiren said, Tang Beixuan wasn't breathing and he wasn't responding to their calls.
The doctor took over and called the other nurses to take Tang Beixuan away.
"Bring him to the operating room now! Call the neurologist! We'll have to do emergency surgery on Mr. Tang!" He exclaimed.
Feng Tianyi and Zhang Jiren were left speechless and shocked at the sudden turn of events. One minute, they were talking with Tang Beixuan, the next thing they knew, he was being rushed to the operating room with several medical practitioners following after him.
Zhang Jiren remained with Feng Tianyi, but the latter forced him to go and at least get checked by the other doctors to get an IV and medicines for his high fever.
Feng Tianyi had been walking back and forth in the hallway, waiting for news about his wife and his in-laws. He wasn't sure how this night would end for them, but hopefully he wouldn't lose any of them tonight.
Three hours later, Li Meili came rushing into the hallway of the operating room, looking distraught at the same time. She looked at Feng Tianyi and the operating lights that told her that the surgery was still simultaneously ongoing for Tang Beixuan and Tang Moyu.
"How is it going?" Li Meili asked Feng Tianyi, who only responded with a shake of his head. He didn't have any answers for her at the moment and he was also clueless on what to do next.
In her despair to return to Shenzhen, she begged her own parents to bring her back, accepting any conditions they would impose on her later. Li Meili knew what she did would eventually bite her hard in the a.s.s later, but the thought of losing Tang Moyu and Tang Beixuan at the same time was enough to send her to the edge of breaking down. She had no idea what she would do if she lost them.
Her tears continued to flow, never stopping. Just as she thought that things were going well in their lives, something like this happened to ruin their happiness. Tang Moyu who just found the love of her life and built a family she could call her own, fate decided to play a trick on them. Tang Moyu wasn't her real sister, but their bond was deeper than that.
As for Tang Beixuan, she had only been with him for some time now. Although her best friend's brother had been pursuing her for years, she really didn't want to deny her feelings any more than she already had. There weren't many things she regretted in the past, and that included denying herself and Tang Beixuan the happiness they both deserved.
An hour later, Zhang Jiren returned, looking better than before. He silently took a seat across Li Meili, who had been crying since her arrival. As he looked at the woman seated across him, he wondered why most of the time he met Li Meili, she would always be crying.
The surgery continued and none of them spoke a single word throughout the wait. Li Meili ignored the two men and patiently waited for the surgeries to be done.
The first one to finish was Tang Moyu's side. The moment the lights turned off, Feng Tianyi jolted up from his seat and waited for the doctors to step out. He desperately needed to know Tang Moyu's condition. If he lost his wife, he didn't think he would be able to step out of this establishment with a sane mind.
Zhang Jiren also rose to his feet, waiting nervously for the outcome of his twin sister's surgery. He can't possibly lose her right now. No, he refused to believe that he would lose her too.
The doctors came out one by one, removing their masks, greeting Feng Tianyi midway.
"How is she?" Feng Tianyi reigned his emotions and asked the lead doctor politely.
"The surgery was successful, but we need to check on her for her condition for a day. Madam Feng should be able to recover without any problem in the next few days."
Zhang Jiren released a breath he didn't know he was holding. He was relieved to know that he wasn't losing his sister this time and he would have a chance to redeem himself for his sins he committed in the past.
Whether she accepted him or not, it didn't matter anymore. As long as he knew that she would be safe from danger from now on. He patted Feng Tianyi's shoulder, reminding him that he wouldn't be facing this alone this time.
Li Meili who heard about her best friend's condition, dried up her tears, hope surging through her veins. If Tang Moyu was able to make it out alive, then perhaps Tang Beixuan would be fine too.
Alas, her hopes were shattered when an hour later, the lights for the operating room where Tang Beixuan's was in turned off and the doctors came out with their head low.
"W-what?" Li Meili was about to ask how Tang Beixuan was, but the moment the doctor shook his head, she felt like her world came crashing down. She staggered back and held onto Feng Tianyi's arm, who had easily caught her midway through her fall.
"No, this can't be…." Her tears flowed incessantly down her cheeks. She covered her mouth, her knees weakening as she fell down.
How could this happen? Li Meili wished that none of this was true and that she was just having another nightmare. She and Tang Beixuan had so many plans after her competition. What was she supposed to do now?
"Li Meili!" Feng Tianyi exclaimed. Of course, he was also shocked by the sudden turn of events and couldn't believe what they just heard from the doctor. He also knew how this would affect Tang Moyu once she regained her senses.
"It's cerebral hemorrhage. Mr.Tang hit his head really hard during the collision." The doctor explained. They were too late in attending Tang Beixuan. If Tang Moyu hadn't insisted for them to go and check on Tang Beixuan, they wouldn't know what he suffered during the collision.
Feng Tianyi could only hold Li Meili, allowing her to cry her heart out although he was aware that her heart was breaking right now while Zhang Jiren remained standing behind them, hearing the heartbreaking cries of her twin sister's best friend. It was hard to believe that a person like Tang Beixuan had lost his life just like that.
