Seven Years of Marriage, Seven Years of Pain 2
"Moyu, I'm glad that you finally found someone who could truly care for you." Tang Wanyu commented while the empress was busy reading the pile of documents Cheng Ning had delivered earlier. This needed her level of approval, so obviously she couldn't simply pass them on to Lu Tianxin and Gu Yuyao.
Tang Moyu lifted her head, her spectacles on her face, looking at her sister with confusion. She hadn't introduced Feng Tianyi properly to her sister, but he had voluntarily introduced himself as Qin Jiran, her boyfriend.
"I mean… you and Mr. Qin seems to get along well. He also didn't seem to mind my unannounced visit." Tang?Wanyu gave her a smile that indicates her awareness of what was going on between Moyu and the crippled man living with her.
Tang Moyu wanted to correct her by saying that she was the one who had the say on who stays here or not since it was her place, but her Wan Jie was right. Feng Tianyi hadn't complained about anything since her sister's arrival. In fact, he was kind enough to extend a hand to help her run a background check on her bastard brother-in-law through his connections.
It would only be a matter of time before Han Shaohui finds out about her older sister's whereabouts. The only question now was, would he be able to bully Tang Wanyu when the empress was around, waiting for his grand appearance?
"He understood your situation, Wan Jie. You don't need to worry about it. He and I agreed that it would be better for you to stay here. It's for your own safety." She replied before going back to her work, which didn't seem to lessen though she had spent quite a long time on this pile of files.
Ah, being a CEO wasn't a walk in a park. While for some, it was such an admirable feat to be in the position, those who actually work as a CEO barely had time for their personal affairs. This was why Tang Moyu couldn't understand how some businessmen were still able to cheat on their wives and have multiple affairs outside their marital relationship. Wouldn't it only cause them more headaches in the future?
Having some alone time and a private space to reflect was something Tang Moyu had been practising since she started working at Feng Conglomerate years ago. It was crucial for her to have her alone time for reflection and thinking, which helps to give her some clarity. To her personally, it had become a strategic process as she navigates through her busy schedule.
"Still, for you to be able to find a man who loves you in spite of all the horrible teachings mother and I imposed on you when you were younger…" Tang Wanyu trailed off, a little ashamed that she'd help their mother convince Tang Moyu not to associate herself with love and to detach herself from other people. She understood the error of her ways now and how awful she was as Moyu's sister.
"You know Wan Jie, you don't need to be like others around you. I've only tolerated my mother because I thought that by doing what she wanted, I'll eventually earn her approval." Tang Moyu replied, but that was a long time ago.
If she hadn't witnessed how low their mother would go to save face and deny her, she might be still deluding herself that Zhang Wuying would show even a bit of affection for her as her daughter.
At her words, Tang Wanyu stiffened and looked away. She had this expression on her face that Moyu could interpret as she knew something, but was hesitating to bring it up. When they were younger, her older sister followed their mother around like a puppet. Tang Wanyu had been at the beck and call of their mother.
"Moyu, I know it was unfair to you…" Tang Wanyu started, which caught the empress's attention. "Dad is already dead so he wouldn't be able to tell you his side of the story and Mom insisted that I shouldn't let you know the truth…"
"Truth about what?" Tang Moyu's eyes turned into slits. Just what were her parents hiding from her that only her Wan Jie knew about?
While her relationship with her mother was beyond salvation, her relationship with their deceased father wasn't any better. For most parts of Tang Moyu's life, she rarely saw her father. It was as if he would rather be away than to get to know or spend time with his daughter.
People had once told her that her cold and off putting attitude came from their father, Tang Lixue. If anything, he was a decent and smart businessman who was able to keep their family business going when no one wanted to step up and manage it.
For the most part of his three children's lives, Tang Lixue was never around for them and had left them to his wife's devices, allowing her to raise their children at her own will. However, people didn't know how Tang Lixue hated his wife down to the core… and how painful it was for him to turn his back on the only child who was a constant reminder of what he'd lost.
Tang Wanyu was aware of all of this. Their mother wasn't really good at keeping the family secret when she was drunk anyway. With her loose tongue, the eldest of the Tang siblings unexpectedly found out about her sister's conception and birth. Something that caused Zhang Wuying to hate Moyu from the beginning.
"Moyu… you aren't Mom's daughter."
