Bound to Happen 2
"You know, Moyu, you can always tell me if something's bothering you, right?"
Tang Moyu's pen stopped midway, hovering over the document she was working on and she lifted her head to meet Gu Yuyao's inquisitive gaze.
"I also hope that you didn't purposely betray me by keeping the truth from me, Sister Yaoyao." She said with a cold tone that caught Gu Yuyao off guard.
Gu Yuyao's eyes widened in realization. So the empress finally learned the truth about Qin Jiran and Feng Tianyi. She pursed her lips and sighed.
"It's not that I want to keep it from you, Moyu. I would have told you in a heartbeat, if only my family wasn't hunting me down." She paused, "Feng Tianyi was the only one who could help me stall them at that time and he asked me not to tell you."
She met the empress's gaze head on. "I'm really sorry, Moyu."
Tang Moyu removed her eyeglasses and ran her fingers over her thick mane. Why were Qin Jiran… no, Feng Tianyi and Gu Yuyao singing the same tune? No matter if they meant no harm, the fact that they both hid the truth from her still hurt her.
What did they take her for anyway? Did they think she would act irrationally and start a drama out of it? Did they really think so lowly of her that they would drag the truth this long?
Now that she thought about it, was this the reason why Xu Wenyang also warned her? Did he warn her knowing that the devil was beside her?
What bothered Tang Moyu the most was how stupid she was to easily let Feng Tianyi ingrain himself, not only in her life, but in her children's as well. What if he had malintent and had purposely gotten close to her and her children? Tang Moyu didn't think she would be able to forgive herself if her children ended up being hurt because of her stupidity.
She should have been more cautious with him. Why did she allow herself to get involved with him anyway? She should have known better than to believe in men.
Just look at what Feng Tianhua did to her after abusing her, taking advantage of her capabilities. Didn't she lose everything because of him? Did Feng Tianyi want the same thing from her?
"Out of curiosity..." were his words, but would she be able to trust him again after he confessed his identity? Tang Moyu was more confused than ever.
The fact that Qin Jiran had easily persuaded her to make a deal with him while keeping an eye on her by living next to her should have been a glaring red flag.
"So Feng Tianyi… who is he to you?" She asked Gu Yuyao.
"As you already know, the Gu and Song families are related and we're distant cousins. I met Feng Tianyi when we were kids as he followed his mother for work in Beijing. We also spent a few years growing up together after his mother won his custody. But I don't know much about him and why he ended up as crippled. It's better for you to ask Song Fengyan or He Lianchen since they'd been working for him for years."
Tang Moyu nodded but she also knew it would be hard for her to fish answers from those two men as she could see that they're fiercely loyal to Feng Tianyi.
"So what do you know about him then?"
"Nothing that the public doesn't know, Moyu." Gu Yuyao admitted. "After he left Beijing with his mother, I heard he went overseas to finish his studies and only came back a few years later to join Feng Conglomerate." She paused and a thought crossed her mind.
"Moyu, didn't you work for Feng Conglomerate for years? How come you've never met him?" She probed.
"Feng Tianyi is part of the board." The empress nodded, "but he was never around and only sent a representative to each of the meetings we held before. Feng Tianhua said I shouldn't be bothered by him since his older brother would most likely direct his anger to me if I met him."
"That bastard," Gu Yuyao muttered to herself. No wonder Tang Moyu didn't know anything about the devil. She almost had him as her brother-in-law for god's sake.
"So what now?" She asked. It was surprising that Tang Moyu hadn't kicked the devil out of her place and still allowed him to stay with her children.
"I have no idea," Tang Moyu admitted to her friend. This was a lot for her to take in. She also needed to reconsider Feng Tianyi's view over it.
True, he didn't have anything to do with her exile five years ago, but the fact that he'd hidden his real identity from her and coaxed her to be romantically involved with him… this made her head hurt just by thinking of it.
"I don't know, Yuyao. I'm not sure I would be able to trust his words this time." She confessed to Gu Yuyao. "I like him as Qin Jiran, but he's right. I cannot be with him if I couldn't accept the real him and could only see the facade he allowed me to see all this time."
"Moyu, do you like him?" Came Gu Yuyao's straight question. Even if she didn't like Feng Tianyi, as long as he could make Moyu happy, who was she to stop them?
Tang Moyu nodded. What was to deny anyway? They'd already come this far and had admitted their feelings for each other. He made her feel emotions she hadn't felt before.
