...
Bang!
The sound of someone crashing to the ground filled the empty alleyway. Afterwards, there was a sound of mockery. Three men were looking against a young boy, whom they had pushed down.
"Heh, do you think a little brat like you can possibly contend against us? Give us the money!"
"Never!"
Bang!
Another kick landed on the boy’s stomach. The boy grunted, but he didn’t say anything more than that. With a twist of his body, he moved sideways and raised his legs.
Kick!
The kick landed on the man’s head. He staggered back but before the young boy could possibly attack again, his friend had stepped forward and pushed the boy to the back.
The boy’s eyes glinted with ruthlessness as he roared and charged forward. His tackle sent both him and the man to the ground.
Bang!
"AGH! Get off of me!"
The boy didn’t comply as he raised his hand and punched forward ruthlessly to the man’s face.
Punch! Punch!
Punch by punch landed on the man’s face as blood started to spill from the man’s nose. The man was still struggling before his friends came forward and pushed the boy away. The first friend held the boy’s hand from behind while the second friend tried to punch.
Kick!
The boy raised his body and kicked the second friend on the face, staggering him to the back. At the same time, he lowered his head then slammed it to the first friend as hard as possible.
Bang!
"ACK! My nose!
The grip on the boy’s hand loosened. With that chance, the boy twisted his body and kicked the first man’s stomach. That one kick sent the man to the stack of trash on the other side of the road.
"You.."
The second friend was about to help when he saw the boy had already charged at him. The two of them crashed to the wall and the second friend screamed in pain.
"B*stard!" The man who was first attacked and sent to the ground earlier had stood up. He raised his fist and attempted to punch the boy. But at that very moment, the boy moved sideways and the punch landed on the second friend.
Bam!
"AAAAH!"
"Damn you!" The man noticed that the boy had run. His eyes turned red as he screamed. "Dean, you coward!"
The boy, Dean, didn’t seem to care in the slightest as he ran to the intersection and disappeared under the shadow of the night. There was not even any hesitation in his expression as he rushed through the maze-like alley.
For those who had lived in Black Street ever since they were young, this place was their Haven. They could remember every corner without the need to worry that they might get lost. Ordinary people wouldn’t be able to chase after them once they entered this large maze.
*pant* *pant*
"Dean."
Hearing his name called, Dean’s body stiffened. He furrowed his brows and turned around only to see a middle aged man standing there. He had a large body while his hand was holding a large blade. Many other men would probably run the moment they saw this man.
"What do you want?" Dean asked stubbornly. He was already 14 years old, but his figure still looked like he was younger than that. It could be seen that he must be malnourished after living on the street alone without anyone attending him for years.
The middle aged man crossed his hand. "I want you to fight me."
Fight?
Dean furrowed his brows. He had just finished fighting against a lot of annoying bunch of worthless sc.u.ms who tried to take advantage of him. It was not easy for him to take care of them because of the difference in build.
"What if I refuse?" Dean asked back.
"You don’t get to choose."
Bang!
Without giving him a chance, the middle aged man had already brandished his large blade towards Dean. However, Dean managed to shift his position and jumped to the back in order to minimize the impact from the attack. His organs felt like they were crumbled into pieces as he came into contact with the attack.
With just one move, it was more than enough for Dean to be pushed to the back and bleeding profusely.
"Hmm, not bad," the middle aged man commented when he saw the youngster raised his head slowly. Even though blood was trickling down from the corner of the youth’s mouth, he was still staring back in indignation. Flames of determination were apparent on the youth’s eyes.
"Who... are you?" Dean mustered the strength to ask.
"My name is Rudy," the middle aged man replied. "I’m the strongest man in the Black Street."
Hearing that claim, Dean’s face turned dark. There were a lot of people who claimed themselves as the best in Black Street, but no one truly dared to say it out loudly. From what he knew, the three groups were still very dominant, which included his family.
Yes, he came from three families that created three most powerful groups.
"You... won’t be able to defeat groups."
Master Rudy scoffed at Dean’s answer. He lightly swung his sword as he looked at Dean. "You’re talking as if you’re very powerful when you’re nothing more than a brat. Do you think that because you possess the same surname, you’ll naturally inherit their ability?"
The words stung Dean’s heart as he glowered. Yam Family had been unable to keep up with the changes in society. Their power gradually diminished and eventually, Dean himself had lost his parents. The one who took care of the group was his uncle, but his uncle himself was no longer as powerful as before.
In the younger generation, there were barely anyone who were strong enough.
He was among the younger generation, but he didn’t get proper care that many fighters needed. For those who engaged in physical activities, one of the things that they required the most was nutrition. It was something that Dean lacked ever since he was young.
"Shut up!"
Dean struggled and endured the pain in his body. He looked towards Master Rudy with determination to prove that the latter was wrong.
"Why don’t we give it another go? I’m not afraid of you!"
His legs were shaking because he was already wounded severely. After getting beaten up by the thugs, Master Rudy was even more ruthless. However, there was a glint of determination in his eyes. He didn’t even think of giving up in the face of a monster like Master Rudy.
