actionChapter 177: Like Mother, Like Son (2)
If Zhao Youlin were to hear this, she certainly would have spat this out in her face, “Are you mental, you numbskull?! Only an idiot who got hit in his face would take the initiative to cause trouble to that numbskull!”
Unfortunately, at that time, Zhao Youlin was busy with Mu Tingfeng, and she simply did not have time to entertain the oddball.
Even though Duan Yarong was known for being dignified and elegant, this time, she was so angry that her face turned red. She shouted furiously, “You’re right, Yifei is a good boy. He’s so good to the point that he ran into his own cousin’s office with the intention of harassing her in broad daylight, right?! They are close relatives! Is that scum heartless?! Isn’t he afraid of being punished by gods?!”
Right after Xia Zhetao heard Duan Yarong’s shout, he instantly felt… dumbstruck.
‘Darn it! What had happened?! The former Mrs. President’s cousin went into her office and intended to… This is something big. I need to calm down!’
‘Scum?! How dare you call my son scum?!” Sun Fengzi widened her eyes and glared at Duan Yarong incredulously. She had never thought someone who had been gentle and polite would abruptly say something like that.
Little did Sun Fengzi know that the weak might commit to certain outrageous acts if he was pushed beyond his limit. When an honest man was driven over the edge, he could turn out to be more fearful than those anxious men.
The reason why Duan Yarong had been holding her anger from Sun Fengzi, who had been causing her many difficulties, was because she wanted to maintain the entire Zhao family’s harmony. Moreover, since childhood, she had been educated not to speak out like Sun Fengzi. Another major reason was because she was childless. As such, she always felt bad about it for not being able to have one herself, and because of this, she also tolerated Sun Fengzi.
However, things had changed. Now, Duan Yarong had Zhao Youlin and Joy. Zhao Shunrong was her salvation for the first half of her life, then Zhao Youlin and Joy were the salvation for the second half of Duan Yarong’s life.
A mother could stay strong for the sake of her child. Duan Yarong was able to tolerate Sun Fengzi for causing trouble to her. But, she would not give in to her if she found fault with Zhao Youlin. Zhao Youlin was Duan Yarong’s minefield. No one should cross her bottom line.
“What’s wrong with calling him scum?! I don’t mind him flirting with other ladies outside to the point that he ruins his own reputation. After all, I’m only his Aunt, and I don’t have the right to give him a piece of my mind. However, Youlin is his cousin. Even though she’s not his biological sister, she’s still his blood-related relative. How can he not even spare his own relatives?! I’ve already given him honor by calling him scum. In fact, your son is worse than scum! You’re his mother, and you should bear most of the responsibility for what he has become today! You have no one to blame but yourself for not educating him well!”
“Y-You!” Sun Fengzi had never expected to be stepped on by someone and rendered speechless after so many years of oppressing others.
Her face turned red. After some time, she cussed in a high-pitched voice like a madwoman, “How dare you call my son scum?! Great! If my son is scum, do you think your daughter gets any better?! She’s just an abandoned woman who has been kicked out of the family. No one wants her even though she offered herself. It’s her good fortune that Yifei showed interest in her. Does she think she’s still pure and can find a rich man who’s willing to marry her?! Dream on! Which rich man would want to marry a tainted woman who was once married?!”
“Y-You!” When Duan Yarong heard Sun Fengzi describe Zhao Youlin as a tainted woman, her face grew so dark that it was fearful to look at. She felt that she could no longer hold back herself and wanted to strike Sun Fengzi.
Meanwhile, Sun Fengzi ignored Duan Yarong’s feelings. Instead, the angrier Duan Yarong was, the happier she was. “Hehe! Why is she afraid of being judged when she has the guts to commit the deed? The divorce between the wench and Young Master Mu has become a laughing stock among the rich in the upper-class society. You’re the only one who treats her like a treasure when she’s just someone unwanted by others. They would laugh their heads off if they know about this!”
Xia Zhetao was dumbfounded when he saw Sun Fengzi flip out. He thought to himself that this woman looked truly scary when she went mad. She could literally spew anything out of her mouth! ‘Oh no! Why do I feel a chill sending down my spine? Such a familiar feeling… Could it be…’
Xia Zhetao’s face stiffened. He seemed to have sensed something. He scratched his head and looked in the direction of the small room. He was greeted by the sight of Zhao Youlin, whom he had no idea had come out of the room, as well as the… scary man behind her, whose presence gave off a chilly aura. He wondered how long the two had been standing there and how much they had heard.
There was a small room inside Zhao Youlin’s office. The small room’s door faced an office desk. A stack of documents piled up on the desk and a blue curtain that was neither big nor small was hung on it. If one did not pay attention to it, one would not realize if someone walked out of it, especially when Duan Yarong and Sun Fengzi were standing with their backs facing the curtain.
Xia Zhetao looked at an oppressively gloomy Mu Tingfeng and nearly wanted to cry. It was his first time seeing the president’s face turned so dark after working under him for so many years.
‘It’s over! The president is going to start on a killing spree!’ Xia Zhetao wailed in his heart. Before he could come up with a solution to shun from this, Mu Tingfeng had already cast a glance at him.
The sight of anger that could scare one out of their wits, with a hint of… ahem… pent-up desire appeared in his bone-chilling gaze.
Xia Zhetao instantly understood. The president must have been doing the do with the former Mrs. President inside the small room. However, at a critical moment, they must have been interrupted. Most importantly, the person who interrupted them was adding fuel to the fire! That was truly annoying.
Xia Zhetao looked at Mu Tingfeng innocently. ‘President, I’ve already done my best. Who would have thought that after I managed to deal with the former Mrs. President’s mother, her aunt, who was even more superb than the former, came in all of a sudden? You can’t really blame me on this!’
Meanwhile, Zhao Youlin did not notice the invisible war between the two. She stared at the overbearing Sun Fengzi not far away from her coldly, as if looking at the dead.
“Sun Fengzi, how dare you…” Duan Yarong seldom cussed people. She had already reached her limit when she cussed Sun Fengzi just now. Upon hearing Sun Fengzi’s abusive curses, she wanted to retort, but she lacked experience. She was so worked up that her eyes turned red.
Just as Duan Yarong was in a fit of rage, a familiar voice came in from outside, saving Duan Yarong from her difficult position in the nick of time.
“When did my daughter have to be judged by others? Sun Fengzi, don’t you think you’ve butted your nose into my affairs more than you should?!”
A hint of dominance was heard from his words. This caused the proud Sun Fengzi to stiffen, and her face turned as white as a sheet.
