Chapter 398 Final Preparations (II)
?398 Final Preparations (II)
After learning about the hidden space, the elven Empress personally visited the place with six individuals by her side, all of whom Alex recognized from their description as elders, chief magicians, and other big figures of the Elven Race.
Boras was taken with them as only he could make someone enter and exit the place, and the group spent more than a day inside the place, combing through every inch of it.
Boras was asked many questions, and various check methods were used to eliminate the possibility of him lying. They even used various methods, from simply attacking or using magical treasures to see if the Tree of Light would respond.
They attempted to test the pool of rebirth, but it remained unresponsive, leading them to conclude that their immense strength was the cause.
As they departed, the entire group sported bright smiles in stark contrast to their initially somber and serious expressions upon arrival.
As they returned to the palace, it was made clear to Boras that he was the golden child favored by the elven ancestors, and from this day forth, he was part of the Elven Royalty and a future pillar of their Race.
Boras kept in contact with Alex, updating him about every event and the wild offers the top three clans made, with all three clan leaders offering to betroth their daughters to him, including the Elven Empress, as it was the easiest and official way to bind him and keep his loyalty.
Boras was even offered three to five items from their clan treasury with no limit on what he could take, and while Alex had expected it, he doubted that something like the darkness core would be kept in their treasuries.
But that didn't mean he was planning not to use this opportunity, as not doing so would raise questions because a man without desires was hard to control and could place Boras under strict surveillance.
In the race to bind him to their clan, wild offers were thrown at Boras, with every clan making promises to give him status, help, unlimited resources, and even providing him with the best guidance.
It didn't take long for the Elven Empress to propose that she take him as her student, giving him the same status as a Clan Elder, lower than a few and above the majority, and as Boras was waiting for her to make the proposal, he accepted it after pretending to think about it.
After a day, Boras was where he needed to be, and now it was just a waiting game for all the pieces to come to their place before Alex made his move and saved the Emperor. While Alex spent the following two days doing his daily routine, Boras was stuck dealing with one princess after another because even though he made it clear he didn't want a partner, the elves gave no head to his wishes.
Boras was destined to become a pillar of the elven race, so various clans spared no effort making their presence and goodwill known to him, sending his valuable treasure and offering him their support without any restrictions, while their daughters spent their days trying to charm him.
Alex planned to take things slowly as there was no room for mistakes, and they could also use this opportunity to see if the core of darkness was in the possession of elves.
Boras also visited the royal treasury, which had many useful items, but the core was not present, so he just picked an ancient elven armor that fit his play style.
Boras's next task was to visit the library, find out information about the tree of darkness, and see what the elves had done to hide their heinous crimes.
After that, he will show his interest in the tree of darkness before the Empress, making it clear it was just out of curiosity and hopefully gaining some information on the topic.
After three days, Boras met with Alex after gaining permission from the Empress to get a guide from among the royal guards.
The due spent the following five days roaming in the city, hunting in the nearby jungle, and spending time in the library, going through the entire fabricated history of the elves.
The history that was categorized as the dark era was not accessible even with the Athrouthy badge Boras was given, but seeing him showing so much interest in learning about the ancient era that the Elven Monarch belonged to the librarian gave him access.
After eight days, it was finally time to see if they could gain any info on the tree of darkness, and after that, they would decide whether to wait for some time or save the Emperor and put an end to this troublesome mission.
------------
"Boras POV"
"Wish me luck," Boras said as he stopped before the giant, intricately carved door of the chamber.
Alex said nothing and stepped closer to the wall, and without looking back, Boras stepped through the invisible barrier, a pristine white badge firmly held in his hand.
Alex couldn't enter because he was not given an access badge by the Empress, but entering the chamber was not something he needed to worry about as he could use the form of Boras, even replicating his mana signature, and then use his badge to enter.
Boras was welcomed with the sight of a massive chamber with a dome-shaped ceiling, intricate design, and runes carved into the pristine crystalline ore that completely made the chamber. The entire chamber had hundreds of lines that were the source of the bright yet warm light, going through the floor, walls, and ceiling, connecting to the massive pure crystal embedded in the ceiling.
There was a ten-foot sarcophagus made from a pristine white crystal with all the lines of energy connecting to it, located right in the middle of the chamber, and two breathtaking beauties were standing by its side.
"May the Light be with you," Boras repeated the greeting as he walked closer to the ladies.
"Child, What gave you the time to leave the library," The mature beauty inquired with a gentle tone that resonated with wisdom and kindness.
"I read the history and had a few questions, but I hope I didn't come at the wrong time," Boras said as he smiled toward the young beauty who waved at him.
"Child, I am always here for you, so go ahead, ask away your inquiries," The Elven Empress said, momentarily shifting her focus from the plethora of runes floating before her.
"I was reading about the great Monarch Selfok and learned that he had a space treasure with a complete ecosystem inside of it, allowing him to host even living things inside of it," Boras said and went silent as no further explanation was needed.
"If you think that the hidden space located in the Eldoria Vale is the same treasure, then you will likely be correct, but as for how you can acquire it, I believe it could be through Elder Ana?lle, who is currently in a deep slumber," The Elven Empress replied, and putting a big smile on Boras's face.
"I also thought the same thing, and I might have a solution to awaken Elder Ana?lle,"
"I also learned about the Tree of Darkness, who is a brother of the Elder Ana?lle, and according to the recorded history, he died in the Chaos invasion,"
"So, I was thinking that if we can find some of his remains that still hold his aura and take them closer to Elder Ana?lle, then it could possibly awaken her,"
"She wouldn't be happy knowing her brother died, but she would appreciate the fact that she is now free, and this way, not only would the Elven Race have a great and strong ally, but she could also help prosper the elven Race by evolving our bloodlines," Boras said, existing evident in his voice.
Boras presented the question in a way that made it clear that while he would benefit from it, he was ultimately thinking about the benefit of the Elven Race.
The Empress could refuse having any knowledge about it, but she could also present some useful information, and as they can't force her to tell the truth, this was the best way to gain any info.
"I value you thinking about the interest of the Elven Race, but I think that for the time being, you should just focus on progressing your strength and leaving such tasks for the future," The Empress said, giving him a kind smile.
"Junior, You look very disappointed," The female, who stood silently, said, seeing Boras drop his head in genuine disappointment.
"I want to do something great for the Race, who have given me a new life, and this seems to be a great opportunity," Boras said, his head down.
Boras was a bit disappointed at not giving any info, but he also had his own questions about the situation as to why his organization was trying to save the Emperor, as the Elven Empress was kind and good-hearted, spending many hours overseeing the Human Emperor.
But he could only keep those inquiries to himself and do as he was notified because he was not doing anything wrong, and that's what mattered in the end.
"Child, I don't want to present you false aspire by telling you something not achievable, but seeing your resolve, I will inform you about the only source of the Tree of Darkness that has survived throughout the centuries," The Elven Empress said, after moments of silence.
