Chapter 333 Chaos Apocalypse

Alex stood at the top of one of the towering buildings near the edge of the inner area, observing the various races move through the streets, with many who had never seen nor heard about.

Alex was impressed by the variety of races and the large number of strong individuals among them, and more so by the environment of the city.

The cityscape was a blend of architectural wonders, with towering buildings crafted from crystal and glass, jointless stone structures reaching impressive heights, and futuristic marvels that defy conventional design.

There were tens of such buildings in the city's inner and outer areas, but the true marvel was at the city's center, with a floating palace of massive proportions suspended tens of meters in the air.

The palace was adorned in red and black marble with massive statues of various individuals carved into its walls like pillars, and surrounding it in a complete circle were twelve dark obelisks that also stood suspended in the air, shimmering in dim dark glow under the bright sun.

A barrier divided the city into two sections, with the outer city teeming with crowded structures and life, feeling like a slum compared to the pristine elegance of the inner sanctum.

The streets were broad and uncluttered, featuring expansive yet sparsely populated sections adorned with majestic mansions encircling the palace, like a place for the kings.

In the city, there were a plethora of things that Alex had either never seen or had only heard of a degraded version of them, and the ones he could identify were flying chariots and short-range instant teleportation circles placed all over the city.

Additionally, the city boasted magical towers designed for various functions, including weather manipulation, mana gathering, noise isolation barriers, and even the use of holographic technology on a grand scale. The city's walls were further adorned with massive futuristic cannons and mana towers enveloping the city in their imposing presence.

Alex was impressed with everything, but it also made him wonder if it was the Chaos apocalypse or some other event that pushed the world to degrade instead of making progress in the following thousands of years.

Alex briefly entertained the notion that the ancient world might be nothing more than a simulation, a construct of virtual reality rather than a tangible reality as he had perceived.

However, this fleeting thought lingered in his mind for only a few moments before he dismissed it altogether because of a simple, unexplainable event that made him who he was today.

Alex roamed the city for half an hour, getting comfortable with his new surroundings, before he shifted his sight to the sky above, knowing the catastrophic event would begin in just a few moments.

'It is beginning,' Alex thought as the clear blue sky filled with clouds started to pale in color.

After a few seconds passed, A deafening tearing sound echoed through the world as a massive rift that spanned for an unknown length, oozing with an aura of pitch eerie darkness accompanied by a silent hum that sent shivers down the spines of even the mightiest of individuals.

There were few who grasped, frozen in fear, while there, the majority screamed in terror, and in mere moments, the entire city was chaos, but amidst this chaos, Alex maintained his composure, his sight fixated on the tear in the fabric of reality.

As moments passed, the rift fully manifested, a colossal tear, its tendrils rendering the vibrant blue sky dark as they devoured space, making it crumble before their insatiable hunger.

As the scene unfolded, it etched an unforgettable spectacle in the minds of all who witnessed the event, and Alex was feeling his heart get heavy by just seeing the sheer size of the tear in space.

Alex kept his eyes on the tear as he waited for an unending army of chaos spawns, nightmarish creatures that he had no clue what they even looked like, but he imagined them to be scary and vast in numbers, and he was waiting to find the

After three seemingly endless minutes, the streets became packed, and so did the rooftops, with every person holding their breath, gazing at the rift in space as a sense of dread settled in their hearts. The expansion of the rift had ceased, and only its tendrils now extended at a more measured pace, showing signs of restrained progression.

At this moment, an individual materialized before the rift, a figure draped in a dark and gray, swirling gown with her aura so dense that it made everyone feel like a mountain was placed on their shoulders.

'What a Monster,' Alex thought, as he used all his strength to stay on his feet and not fall face-first into the ground.

The oppressive pressure lasted for a few moments before it was gone, and instantly, his eyes searched for the cold beauty he had a glimpse of a moment ago, and he found her standing at her previous location.

It would be an understatement to say that the unknown lady was beautiful, but Alex couldn't keep looking at her face because his eyes burned like he was staring at the sun.

"Denizen of this realm, I am Malgortha, Queen of the Chaos Spawn, known as The Devourer of Realms." The female said, her voice echoing inside Alex's head, making his thoughts a complete mess.

Alex witnessed visions of unimaginable destruction, with rivers of blood, piles of gore, mountains of lifeless bodies, and chaos and disorder ravaging across many worlds.

As he snapped back to his senses, his eyes widened, his breath unsteady, and his ear ringing with the screams, shouts of apocalypse, and cries of the people around him, making him realize he was not the only one subjected to these haunting visions.

"You shall either be fortunate enough to aid me fulfill my destiny, or you will become yet another world destroyed in the pursuit of my dream," Malgortha said, her voice echoing with an eerie blend of authority and indifference.

"Young Lady, I would have loved to welcome an outsider like you as a guest, but you should return to the chaotic place you have come from and take those unsightly creatures with you, or the only destiny you will fulfill is to die and meet the creator," A man voice echoed as a figure appeared out of thin air with few meters separating him from the rift.

'High Commander? He seems to be a recognizable figure,' Alex thought as he looked at the man standing face to face with Malgortha, his aura twisting the very space around him.

Alex watched as three more figures appeared one by one before the rift, and people who were crying tears started to cheer in joy like their saviors had arrived, but those cheers quickly turned into loud screams of despair echoing throughout the city.

Alex witnessed Malgortha unleash a swirling maelstrom of chaotic energy, and in response, the four figures released their own elemental energy to counter the onslaught, but it proved futile as the chaotic force consumed it like air.

Faced with this overwhelming power, they quickly turned to their greatest strength, the elemental domain, and in mere moments, multiple domains were invoked, leaving behind a swirling sphere of vibrant colors.

The entire city erupted in cheers as victory seemed imminent, but their cheers turned to hushed silence when the vibrant sphere morphed into darkness, and an instant later, it disintegrated, leaving everyone to draw a sharp breath at the ensuing sight.

Malgortha stood untouched, unmoved, but the same was not true for the heroes who had the heart to stand before the unknown threat as now they hung suspended midair, their bodies a twisted amalgamation of a mess, with bones protruding through the skin, eyes bulged out, and completely covered in blood.
