Chapter 318 Pyro Sanctus Sentinel Legacy Alex knew the location of the legacy tomb from memory, and as he had also spent some time in these ant tunnels, he was well aware of the deeper areas where the ant queens resided.
So, navigating through the tunnels and picking the least dangerous paths was easy for him, and other than encountering a few groups led by early fifth Rank ants, which Alex took care of without any trouble, the whole journey was smooth.
As they continued navigating through the dark, damp tunnels, the unsettling echoes of scurrying ants surrounded them. Saahira couldn't help but be amazed by Alex's strength and composure.
Whenever she thought they might be in trouble or faced with a life-threatening situation, Alex handled it easily, never appearing to be struggling.
'Saahira POV'
'I initially assumed him to be a magician and one of the best I have seen, but seeing him use his sword makes his magic appear almost childlike.'
'For someone to wield such strength, they should be a Fifth Rank warrior, but I read on the official forums that some undisclosed restriction was lifted a bit over two months ago, and talented players were able to advance to Fourth Rank just recently,'
'So if that information holds true, which it likely is, then does that mean he is a Fourth Rank warrior?' Saahira questioned, her gaze fixed on the man before her, who appeared as a blur while effortlessly dispatching the horde of ants.
'I wonder how many more strong people like Sir Hidden One are in the organization and If I would ever reach a level of usefulness to the organization to be considered to have paid my debt,'
'I will become useful, and I can earn my place in this organization that has given me a new chance at life,' Saahira thought as she observed Alex's incredible combat skills.
After more than twenty minutes of navigating through the ant tunnels, Alex stopped before the normal-looking wall, his eyes oozing in darkness as he scanned the area.
'I can't see the passage, but it should be at this location,' Alex thought after he failed to see what he was looking for.The hidden dungeon was located deep in a chamber, with its entrance being a small crack in the wall barely wide enough for a person to walk sideways at the ant colony's boundary, hidden by an illusion.
Alex placed his hand on the wall and pressed in with some strength as he walked forward, and moments later, his hand sank right into the wall, putting a smile on his face.
"Saahira, Wait here. I will be back in a few seconds," Alex said out loud as he stepped into the wall.
Alex went in alone to not only confirm that he was at the correct place but also to make the system recognize that he was the one to discover the place, as finding it together, Saahira wouldn't make any sense and let her raise unnecessary questions.
Saahira snapped back to her senses at Alex's voice, but when she looked ahead, she found him missing, leaving her bewildered. But before panic could take hold, she watched in astonishment as he emerged from the wall.
"Come, We have reached our destination," Alex said as he stepped out of the narrow passage.
Saahira quickly walked close to him with a sense of relief. Alex passed through the wall, appearing inside a naturally formed crack that stretched for around twenty meters before revealing a source of light and an open chamber.
After a few seconds of sideways walking, Alex stepped into a wide, open chamber brightly lit by giant light crystals embedded in the ceiling.
The chamber was shaped like a hexagon, with six crystalline pillars in each corner supporting the dome-like ceiling, looking untouched for years as the crystalline white pillars and the smooth, crystalline floor were covered in dirt that had settled over time.
The chamber had two similar-looking door structures with no real door closing them, one being the entrances that Alex used, which was mostly blocked by the surrounding earth, and the other being a wide open door at the front wall.
At the forefront wall, a towering, intricately designed door frame stood, with it being thirty feet tall and six feet wide, and although it didn't have an actual door, no light from the chamber was passing through it, leaving the passage behind it cloaked in complete darkness.
"This is a hidden dungeon," Saahira exclaimed, her eyes revealing her evident surprise.
"The hidden dungeon is just a facade, but in reality, this is a legacy chamber, and the reason why we have come to this place is to see if you can clear the trial and acquire the legacy," Alex said in a casual tone like it was not a big deal.Saahira was shaken by the statement, and even though not telling her wouldn't have changed the end result, as the trial was an illusion and she wouldn't remember anything while inside of it, Alex still decided to tell her to show his trust.
"Sir, Do I need to strive to complete the trials or just gather information on them and then fail?" Saahira asked after a momentary silence.
"You need to do your best to acquire the legacy," Alex replied.
In the ancient world, there were two types of legacy tombs. One that allowed the trial-taker to remember the trial they took, giving other trail-takers some edge, and the other kind that made the trial memory a mere blur, making it impossible to know what to expect.
Even with the knowledge of the trial, only talented individuals could acquire the legacy, as the difficulty was still present, and only a select few individuals who could meet the requirement had a chance of clearing it.
However, the info was still helpful, so big guilds who had found such tombs would use their members to gather info so an individual of their choice could acquire the legacy.
"I am honored that the organization has found me capable enough to give me this opportunity, and I will do my best to meet the organization's expectations," Saahira said with a determined look after staying silent for a short period.
"When you are prepared, walk through that door, and hopefully, when I see you next time, you will be a legacy holder," Alex said as he gave her a reassuring smile.
Saahira took a deep breath before she walked toward the tomb entrance and, without an issue, passed through the invisible barrier.
After standing in silence for a few minutes, Alex turned around and used the narrow passage to return to the ant colony, aiming to use his darkness manipulation more to hone it better, as it was much better than sitting in silence for the next ten hours waiting for the trail to end.
As of now, Alex was burning his mental strength to bend the law of darkness to form simple attacks like spears, bullets, blasts, and so on.
But these attacks were not strong enough to do any real damage to even early fourth Rank ants, and nor was this method sustainable for long without putting strain on his mind.
Alex spent the next seven hours hunting ants in the less populated areas using only his darkness manipulation, trying to improve his control with every attack.
By the end of his session, even though he had made little progress, he was mentally exhausted, so he returned to the tomb's outer chamber and started to meditate.
After only a few minutes were left, in ten hours completion, Alex sensed a presence, and looking ahead, he saw Saahira, who had a dazed and muddled look on her face.
The first thing Alex did seeing her was to use appraisal on her, and seeing her changed status window, with her unique class 'Flame Spellweaver' changing to 'Pyro Sanctus Mage' and also showing her new legacy 'Pyro Sanctus Sentinel' put a big smile on his face.
