Chapter 230: Lin Chu Was Getting Ready to Leave When She Suddenly Glanced at the Corner of Yan Zhiqing’s Eye
Lin Chu looked Jiang Changdai up and down. Jiang Changdai felt very uncomfortable.
Then she heard Lin Chu said, “From your behavior just now, I am very suspicious of you claiming to be Zhiqing’s mother and you feel heartache for her. How did your heart ache? Are you really as what you claimed, that you really treated Zhiqing well?”
“You…” Jiang Changdai was so angry that she raised her voice. However, seeing the taunting expression on Lin Chu’s face, she was reminded of what Lin Chu had just said and stopped herself in time albeit her twisted expression.
Lin Chu’s words had defeated her. Jiang Changdai felt threatened and wronged, she gritted her teeth and stopped speaking, her expression twisted and stiff.
At that moment, the security guard that Xu Moyan called for had arrived. Seeing Yu Zi and Lin Chu, they cordially asked what the matter was.
Yu Zi by then had walked to the door. She pointed to Lu Zhenghang and said, “Please help to see this gentleman out. He and this lady were noisy in the ward and disturbing my grandniece. Please also take note that we do not welcome them to visit.”

The security guard’s mouth twitched hearing Yu Zi saying ‘grandniece’, nevertheless, he politely went up to ask Lu Zhenghang to leave.
Lu Zhenghang unwillingly looked at Yan Zhiqing again. He then grunted coldly and refused to be touched by the security guard and walked out himself.
Yan Beicheng was now in T City and was not convenient. Yu Zi made a phone call to Yan Huaian.
Not long after, two bodyguards dressed in black suits came and explained, “Mr. Yan asked us to come and protect Miss Yan.”
With two bodyguards and Aunt Chen guarding, Jiang Changdai would not have the chance to do anything even if she wanted to.
Lin Chu could not figure it out. Jiang Changdai did not treat Yan Zhiqing as bad as she had rejected Yan Beicheng; in fact, she treated her well otherwise Yan Zhiqing would not have said good words on her behalf. However, Jiang Changdai did not seem to be bothered by Yan Zhiqing.
She was not taking Yan Zhiqing’s physical condition when she put up a huge fuss in the ward.
“Miss Jiang, please feel free and happy to stay here to accompany Zhiqing. But if you were thinking to do something to Zhiqing, that would be impossible. I would advise that you do not waste time here because regardless of your intentions, it would never be successful so you might as well leave earlier. We will inform you as soon as Zhiqing wakes up,” Lin Chu said rudely.
“I am not leaving! You keep saying I have an intent, I intend to wait for Zhiqing to wake up!” Jiang Changdai declared. She sat on the couch with her hands crossed and her face grim. It was obvious she would not be leaving anytime soon.
Lin Chu and Yu Zi ignored her. They got the two bodyguards to keep watch by the side. Other than members of the Yan family, or those who came with them, the rest were not allowed to enter.
They also asked the doctor to come in and examine Yan Zhiqing, and only felt at ease after she was confirmed to be all right.
Both of them looked at Yan Zhiqing on the bed. She was still in a coma and not awake, though her complexion was better than yesterday.
Lin Chu was getting ready to leave when she suddenly glanced at the corner of Yan Zhiqing’s eye and spotted tear stains. Lin Chu’s gaze changed. She discreetly blocked Jiang Changdai’s point of view and raised her head to look at Yu Zi, who was at the opposite of the bed.
Yu Zi was surprised by the delighted look in Lin Chu’s eyes. She was trying to understand it when she saw Lin Chu signaling with her eye. She lowered her head and spotted tear stains on the other corner of Yan Zhiqing’s eye.
Lin Chu maintained her composure and bowed down slightly as if she was tidying Yan Zhiqing’s hair. She was, in fact, discreetly wiping away the tear stains so Jiang Changdai would not spot it.
Jiang Changdai was not somebody who would lower herself to take care of other people. Lin Chu had seen through her selfish character. However, Jiang Changdai refused to go and stubbornly stayed put this time. Aunt Chen mentioned that Jiang Changdai even wanted to eat her meals in front of Yan Zhiqing, putting on an act of a caring mother.
However, Jiang Changdai was accustomed to enjoyment, since when was she such a virtuous character.
The more Lin Chu thought about it, the more she felt that Jiang Changdai was not taking care of Yan Zhiqing by staring at her and was watching her instead.
Lin Chu felt something was not right in her heart, but she could not pinpoint what it was. She could only hide it from Jiang Changdai and not let her know.
If Yan Zhiqing was crying, it was obvious that her mind was conscious except that she could not move physically. She must have heard something that made her cried, could it be what Jiang Changdai and Lu Zhenghang had said earlier when they were here?
Seeing that Yan Zhiqing’s mind was conscious, Lin Chu and Yu Zi could not bear to let Yan Zhiqing be alone here anymore.
Yu Zi pondered and said, “You go back with Moyan and Yuntong first, I’ll stay here and look after her.”
Lin Chu hesitated. Yu Zi advised, “You are not convenient now with your condition, and you can’t help much being here too and might worry us. So how Yan Ningbai is at home, you can help me look after him and I can be at ease too.”
Lin Chu did not insist and left with Zheng Yuntong and Xu Moyan.
Jiang Changdai sat on the couch and glared at Yu Zi. With Yu Zi around, she could not do anything at all. She wanted to call Lu Zhenghang and asked him how his preparation was.
However, as soon as she stood up, Yu Zi would signal the bodyguard and he would follow her closely wherever she went. She had no freedom at all.
Jiang Changdai got up and went to the bathroom door. She said coldly, “I’m going into the bathroom, do you want to follow too?”
Aunt Chen walked over and said smiling, “He’s a guy and it wouldn’t be convenient for him. I can go with you.”
“You…” Jiang Changdai was stumped. She looked at Aunt Chen furiously.
Aunt Chen kept her smile, not affected by Jiang Changdai’s furious glare.
“I’m going to relieve myself, why are you following me!” Jiang Changdai said in rage.
“Yo, did you hear what you just said? I am not disgusted with you. We are both women so there’s no harm to go in together. I can turn around and not watch you when you’re relieving yourself,” Aunt Chen said.
Who would want to see her relieving herself? It was just to make sure that she did not do anything fishy.
Seeing how restless Jiang Changdai was, she was most probably thinking to call Lu Zhenghang.
“Don’t bully me to the extreme!” Jiang Changdai exclaimed angrily. Her face was red with rage.
Yu Zi sat comfortably on the couch. She had made herself a cup of coffee to stay awake. She said, “It’s nothing. You can choose to not go, otherwise, somebody will follow you wherever you go. You can choose to not accept it, but we insist, and you can’t do anything about it.”
The bodyguard stood by the side holding the bathroom’s door. Jiang Changdai’s thoughts to lock Aunt Chen out was not possible.
Jiang Changdai tightened her lips. She contemplated saying that she did not want to go to the bathroom anymore but feared that Yu Zi would be suspicious of her, so she stomped into the bathroom with Aunt Chen following her closely behind.
Aunt Chen stayed true to her words and turned to not watch her relieve herself. Jiang Changdai forced some pee out and quickly cleaned herself and stepped out.
“Yu Zi, I’m warning you, don’t go too far! I will remember today’s incident! You watch out!”
Yu Zi sneered coldly, “Your family doesn’t want you, your in-laws abandoned you, I’ll wait to see what you can do to me. Didn’t you look down on Beicheng’s father and the Yan family? I’ll let you see today how much I can bully you with the Yan family backing me. If you had performed your duty right from the start, you can also take advantage of the Yan Family’s power to bully people and need not care about other people’s revenge, but you do not have such blessings. However, you are blessed today to experience how is it like to lose that advantage albeit it’s just a tiny one. Don’t regret, you will need to bear and enjoy the consequence of your sin.”
Jiang Changdai clenched her teeth. She told herself in her heart to put up with it and thought about how Yu Zi would pay for her arrogance in the future.
By that time, she would own the Yan Family and she would repay Yu Zi’s arrogance. Both of their positions would switch, and she would make sure Yu Zi regretted her actions!
Jiang Changdai face stayed grim, she walked to the other side of the bed and dragged a chair to sit in. She took out her handphone to play with it, but it was suddenly taken away from her hands.
Jiang Changdai looked up angrily. One of the bodyguards was handing her phone to Yu Zi.
“What are you doing? On what grounds that you have to take away my phone!” Jiang Changdai asked in rage.
Yu Zi looked at Jiang Changdai lazily, and said, “Miss Jiang, don’t ask me what I am doing. I am telling you now loud and clear that we are holding you here. Do you understand now? Since you share such a strong bond with Zhiqing and wish to accompany her, you can stay here and not go anywhere. You just have to stay put until Zhiqing wakes up. Don’t play with your phone, and don’t think you can get in touch with anybody. You can stay here and not play any tricks.”
Jiang Changdai stared angrily as if her eyes were about to break and said, “Yu Zi, you are a lawyer, how can you limit my freedom!”
“Did I?” Yu Zi blinked and laughed. “But I am not stopping you. Nobody will stop you wherever you want to go. You said you needed to go to the bathroom, and we did not stop you. Aunt Chen followed you in but there are no rules that said nobody cannot follow anybody into the toilet. Even if you want to leave the hospital, you are free to do so. You can leave now, and I guaranteed you nobody will stop you and nobody will follow you. If you want to leave, be my guest.”
Just do not think of coming back after you left.
Jiang Changdai was aware that Yu Zi was a lawyer, and she would not be able to fight her in matters like this.
In the end, she could only sit feeling stifled. She could not leave no matter what.
She knew that if she left, she would not be able to return; but as long as she was here, and there was still hope for her to advise Yan Zhiqing to not say anything when she woke up. She was basing this on her being Yan Zhiqing’s mother, on her many years of relationship with Yan Zhiqing. Yan Zhiqing might listen to her.
Hence, she put up with it and stayed put refusing to leave.
…
When Lin Chu returned to Ding City, Yan Ningbai was already at home citing that Yan Huaian had something to do and was not at home. Lin Chu did not give much thought to it.
Since Yan Beicheng was not around, Zu Moyan and Zheng Yuntong took the opportunity to stay longer. It was stressful with Yan Beicheng around, and they felt restless and pressured.
The trio chatted for close to two hours. Zheng Yuntong answered a call. Somebody on the other side said something, and her eyes went big and looked at Lin Chu in surprise.
Lin Chu was cracking melon seeds and stopped seeing Zheng Yuntong looking at her. She asked, “What is it?”
“I know, thank you very much. I’ll treat you to a meal,” Zheng Yuntong ended her call and turned to Lin Chu with a stupefied expression. She gulped, still in a daze.
“What happened?” Xu Moyan nudged Zheng Yuntong and asked. “You’re making us worried.”
“I don’t know where to start. There’s a news going live now, you should see for yourself,” Zheng Yuntong typed in a live video stream address in her phone’s internet browser and set it up in full-screen mode on the coffee table for Lin Chu and Xu Moyan to see.
The internet video channel was set up by a renowned TV network cable channel. The TV station was limited by 24 hours to broadcast news and important affairs, drama series and entertainment programs; hence the internet video channel was set up to stream live news from all over the nation. There were also other sister internet video channels under it.
The internet video channel covered a wide variety of stories — from animal stories such as pandas mating, hippopotamus brushing its teeth, tiger giving birth to cubs; country related matters such as some queen’s birthday, the prince getting married, a new king ascending the throne; political affairs such as the election, the president giving a speech; terrorist attacks, gun attacks and etc.; to local and domestic news. There was also news on celebrities attending various functions and events and their ambassadorship and interviews and many more.
As long as it was within the system, the channel would try to cover all that it was able to. It was a hit with the public, with high traffic clicks and with that, also came lucrative advertisement fees.
One of the sister channels was now streaming a press conference live. Lin Chu took a good look and realized that the person sitting on stage was Lu Zhenghang.
He was surely busy, leaving the hospital straight to organize a press conference.
However, listening to what Lu Zhenghang was saying and what the reporters were asking, Lin Chu’s face paled immediately.
One could not blame Lu Zhenghang for being so rash. He initially did not plan to do this hurriedly as he wanted to ensure everything was well prepared before making the announcement. However, Yan Zhiqing had messed up his plan. She had overheard his conversation and was now in a coma.
Taking the opportunity that Yan Zhiqing is still in a coma, he had to hurriedly realize his plan to avoid the hitch and let the Yan Family took precautions. By the time Yan Zhiqing woke up, the die would have been cast and he could resolve the other matters gradually.
Lu Zhenghang was now facing the camera, holding up an authentication report saying, “The camera can shoot close up, it’s alright. I am also hoping for those in front of the camera to help be a witness. There are three reports here — one is mine and Ms. Jiang Changdai; one is with Mr. Lu Zhenting, and the last one is with Mr. Yan Huaiyuan.”
Lu Zhenghang continued, “Ms. Jiang, who was Mr. Yan Huaiyuan’s ex-wife, is also my mother.”
As soon as he finished his words, the crowd below the stage went wild. The live stream video did not edit or censor anything. The reporters off stage were buzzing non-stop with questions, they were so excited that some of them were rambling.
The reporters were familiar with the Lu Family. All the while, Lu Zhenghang was naturally known to be the son of Lu Zhenting and his deceased wife. It was a huge matter when Lu Zhenghang suddenly declared that he was Jiang Changdai’s son in person!
“Wasn’t Jiang Changdai Yan Huaiyuan’s ex-wife?”
“Yan Huaiyuan passed away 20 years ago. Lu Zhenghang was only 9 years old back then.”
“But Lu Zhenghang has all the while taken the identity of Lu Zhenting’s son.”
“Does this mean that Jiang Changdai had an affair with Lu Zhenting back then?”
The reporters off stage endless speculations could be heard. Lu Zhenghang held the microphone and repeated, “Quiet.” He waited for the crowd to keep quiet before continuing, “I also just recently found out about my real identity. Mr. Lu Zhenting was only my stepfather; he was not my biological father. This is the paternity test report of me and Mr. Lu Zhenting.”
Lu Zhenghang held up the report and requested for the camera to shoot close up and said, “My stepfather has taken care of me for so many years, he raised me and educated me. In my heart, he will always be like my biological father. When I found out about this matter, he remained in my heart as my father. My biological father is…”
Lu Zhenghang held up another report and continued, “Mr. Yan Huaiyuan!”
The report’s paper had yellowed with age, it did look like it was done when Yan Huaiyuan was still alive.
Reporter A: “This is messy, so messy. This is going to be chaotic.”
Reporter B: “What is going on? Jiang Changdai had an affair with Lu Zhenting?”
Reporter C: “I think so. If there was no affair, how could Lu Zhenghang be a son under Lu Zhenting’s name?”
Reporter D: “But how can Jiang Changdai not know whose son he was?”
