Chapter 844   - Finale: Feng Tianyi x Tang Moyu (4)

It was Tang Moyu's turn to sigh. Zhang Xianzhe and her grandfather had received their punishments. The head of the Zhang family received a life imprisonment sentence while Elder Tang eventually got the capital punishment for killing her mother.

Meanwhile, the Zhang family continued to crumble on their own as Zhang Xianzhe's remaining sons faced criminal charges. Zhang Liang was now hiding from the loan sharks he owed from before, while the rest of the fortune of the family fell into Zhang Jiren's hands.

These would never be enough to repay the sins the Zhang family committed towards Tang Moyu's family. In fact, for her, their deaths and misfortune weren't satisfying enough, but it was enough for her to know that justice had been served for her mother's death.

"It's not like I have any choice. In legal papers, I'm still her daughter. Wan Jie's flight was delayed so she wouldn't be here until next week," she said as she started to tidy up the folders before placing them back into the drawer where she got them.

"I'll go with you. I can arrange someone to look after the children while we're gone," Feng Tianyi said with finality. He didn't want to see Zhang Wuying trying to bully his wife in front of him ever again.

The next day, Tang Moyu drove to the detention center where Zhang Wuying was being kept. The reason she was here was because of the investigation Feng Tianyi and He Lianchen did to find out who helped Zhu Ziqian to hide from the authorities and instigated to kill Tang Moyu. She was also being charged as an accomplice for the kidnapping Zhu Ziqian committed.

"Do you hate me that much?"

The moment Tang Moyu said those words, Zhang Wuying lifted her head and looked at the empress with disdain in her eyes. She was far from the proud madam of the Tang family whose grandiose appearance was enough to know that she came from a rich family.

However, Zhang Wuying's neatly styled hair was now hanging behind her shoulders, looking unwashed and unkempt. She was also wearing a detention cell uniform which had faded, making her look older than her age. She was far from the madam who hosted lavish parties in the past.

Tang Moyu didn't need to be told that the reason she was hated and mistreated by this old woman in the past was because of her face. If her face was a constant reminder to her father of what he'd lost, for Zhang Wuying, it reminded her of her deep hatred against Yan Qiuyu.

"Hate you? It would never be enough to describe how I loathe you," the old woman sneered at the empress. "I should have made sure you and your brother died along with your s.l.u.t mother! Not only she seduced my husband but also my brother!"

After the fall of the Zhang family and with Zhang Jiren acquiring? massive assets from them, the news about him being the child on the said recording and being Tang Moyu's long lost twin brother spread on the headlines. Zhang Wuying must have found out about it and realized the mistake she had made by leaving the task in her brother's hand.

Feng Tianyi frowned at that but he held his tongue as he sat next to his wife. Zhang Wuying was lucky that there was a wall separating them or he would have strangled this monster to death. Tang Beixuan was really unfortunate to have a mother like Zhang Wuying.

"Do you even realize that you won't find yourself here and we wouldn't have lived in misery if only you had let go of my father?"

"W-what?" Zhang Wuying's eyes widened.

"There's a saying "misery loves company'. Because my father couldn't love you and wasn't willing to marry you, you decided to make his life a living hell not knowing that you've also messed up the lives of those around you, Mother," Tang Moyu said with a straight face while the last word she spat was filled with sarcasm.

"You keep blaming my mother but have you ever owned up to your mistakes? Have you ever thought that our lives would have been better if you didn't wallow in self-pity and bitterness? Had you accepted my father's rejection and moved on from it, we wouldn't find ourselves here."

These were the things that Tang Moyu had been thinking ever since she found out the truth about her father's marriage with Zhang Wuying and with her mother's death. Her rage towards this old woman had only risen when she heard what kind of life her twin brother had to endure on his own while growing up.

All these problems, all these tears and suffering they had endured over the years were all because of this selfish woman who couldn't accept defeat and rejection. Zhang Wuying treated Tang Lixue like a possession and didn't want another person to have him.

"This is all your fault, Mother. If you still haven't realized, the person who practically pushed Beixuan's to death is you." Tang Moyu didn't dare to hide her disdain towards this crazy woman.

"You are lying! You are lying! I didn't kill him." She cried hysterically, but Tang Moyu didn't budge one bit on her seat as she crossed her arms.

"Are you sure about that, Mother?" She chuckled at the old woman, her eyes flashing with such coldness Zhang Wuying had never seen before.

"Do you not know, Mother? The car that was involved in that accident was Beixuan's and not mine. When you chose to collude with Zhu Ziqian to kill me, didn't you give him permission to harm Wan Jie and Beixuan who were with me at that time?"

"No, I didn't… I didn't…" Zhang Wuying's tears streamed down her cheeks. She shook her head but deep inside she knew what Tang Moyu said was right.

When she helped Zhu Ziqian before, the plan was only to kill Tang Moyu. She had never thought that the man was crazy enough to drag her only son to his scheme. Had she known it would cause Beixuan's death, she certainly wouldn't have extended an olive branch to that person at all.

However, it's too late to regret now. Tang Beixuan had been long gone and his blood was on her own hands. She was the one who pushed his own child to death.

"No… No… It can't be!" Zhang Wuying held her head and cried.

Seeing her pitiful state, Tang Moyu shook her head and stood up. This was enough punishment for Zhang Wuying. Knowing that she had a hand on Tang Beixuan's death would surely torture her for the rest of her life. Tang Moyu didn't need to do anything now.

"Goodbye, Mother. This will be the last time I will see you." She bid her goodbye and left with her husband in tow.
