Chapter 655 - You Lied To Me (2)
Tang Moyu didn't have any idea how to pacify her best friend as she was also too heartbroken from losing the only brother she had. To lose Tang Beixuan like this, she couldn't believe how useless she was for not being able to help him, save him at all. If she had paid more attention to their circ.u.mstances, she would have known that everyone dear to her would become targets, not just her and the twins.
What's the perfect way to destroy her, ruin her was to use the people closest to her? Just as she thought that her life was finally going well, her fate reminded her of how weak she could be. Those people who failed to protect their loved ones when they had a chance were either cowardly or a weakling and Tang Moyu knew she fell into the latter category.
Her body would be able to recover and heal over time, but she didn't think it would be easy for her to accept that Tang Beixuan was truly gone. If this was another prank Tang Beixuan was pulling, she wasn't impressed at all.
Tang Wanyu released her sister and looked up at Li Meili. This wasn't what she had in mind when she returned from overseas to see her siblings. They were supposed to have a happy reunion, celebrating Moyu and Tianyi's wedding ceremony. Had she come home only to witness her little brother die?
Feng Tianyi looked at the three women in front of him. He had no words he could say to lessen the grief they were feeling at this moment. He led Tang Moyu to the side as the guests came one by one to give Tang Beixuan their last respects before his remains were to be cremated later.
Because she was the eldest of the three, Tang Wanyu took charge and was the one who faced their guests. Most of them were their brother's colleagues and classmates during his high school years who he kept in touch with. Still, Zhang Wuying hadn't shown up yet and Tang Wanyu was dreaded another confrontation between her and Tang Moyu.
She didn't want anyone, especially the woman who claimed to be their mother, put the blame on Tang Beixuan's death on Tang Moyu. It was an accident and no one should be blamed for it. She was lucky that she was in the backseat of the car, so she wasn't as badly injured as Tang Moyu and Tang Beixuan.
Looking at her younger sister, Tang Wanyu wanted to cry again, but she knew that she had to be strong for Tang Moyu's sake. They could only depend on each other, now that their little brother was gone.
Zhang Jiren had come to pay respect to his late cousin. He was greeted by Tang Wanyu once he stepped inside. He offered his condolences to her. Now that his fever had subsided, he was looking better compared to the last time Feng Tianyi had seen him.
"I'm sorry this happened." He told Tang Wanyu, who shook her head in response.
"There's nothing to apologize for, cousin. None of us expected the accident to happen." She then glanced at Tang Moyu, who was busy murmuring words to her husband.
Following her gaze, Zhang Jiren saw the pain reflected in his twin sister's eyes. Knowing her personality, she must be blaming herself for not being able to do anything.
He might not be getting along well with Tang Beixuan from the start, but the man grew on him somehow. They were able to understand each other and he was able to see past Tang Beixuan being his twin sister's adoptive brother.
Feng Tianyi caught his gaze and he exchanged a few words with Tang Moyu before leaving her with Li Meili, intending to have a word with Zhang Jiren. This was something the two of them couldn't delay anymore. The two didn't need to utter any word to each other for Zhang Jiren to silently follow Feng Tianyi to the connected room for the conversation.
"Beixuan's car brakes were tampered with." Feng Tianyi didn't waste time and informed his brother-in-law. "I should have considered the possibility of them going after her siblings."
"Just like Cousin Wanyu said, no one other than but the perpetrator of their accident was to be blamed. Does Tang Moyu know about this?" Zhang Jiren asked in return. The perpetrator probably changed his tactics when he realized that he couldn't get past Tang Moyu's tight security.
"No, but I assume she already has her suspicions on what had happened. Her grief is clouding her logical mind and judgment right now, so I need to be careful not to mention anything that could make her do things she might regret later." The devil responded. He paused and gave Zhang Jiren a good look.
"I heard that this wasn't the first time Beixuan's car acted unusually. Is this true? Did Tang Beixuan mentioned anything about it to you?"
Zhang Jiren nodded, taking a seat on the couch on the other side of the room facing the doorway. The room was neat and minimalistic. There were only two couches inside, a potted plant in the corner and a small table that had a pitcher of water and a tray of cups on it.
"Yes. I remember when I offered him a ride with cousin Wanyu, he briefly mentioned that his car refused to start. He mentioned planning to bring it for repairs, that's why he had been commuting via public transport for a week."
Feng Tianyi rubbed his chin and looked at the dark sky out the window. At least the scent of bleach and cleaning agents wasn't as strong inside this place.
"Beixuan did bring it for repairs. We've confirmed that he had just picked up the car a few days ago, but there was something suspicious about it."
Zhang Jiren raised a brow. Now that was something he had no idea about. Didn't Tang Beixuan find it suspicious too, that his car, worth several hundreds of thousands suddenly stopped working properly?
