Ungrateful Daughter 1
Tang Wanyu had left the country yesterday. So even if Han Shaohui still wanted to harass her, it wouldn't be possible unless he followed her overseas, which was unlikely since Han Corporation was currently facing a huge backlash from their investors after failing to secure the partnership they promised to seal with a foreign diamond company.
When Tang Moyu returned to her office, she was greeted with another pile of paperwork, which never seemed to lessen no matter how much she worked on it. They came in one after another. Even her assistant, Cheng Ning, couldn't help but sympathize with her.
"How's the project at Futian District? Is everything going according to the plan?" She asked Lu Tianxin when her cousin dropped by to follow up on some reports and to ask for a second opinion.
Lu Tianxin nodded and placed the folders on her cousin's desk.
"En. The shopping mall is about to finish in a month, but we're still on the rocks when it comes to the theme park. Xiaozu is having a hard time with the food stalls and restaurants near the shopping mall." She reported.
Tang Moyu dropped her pen on top of her desk and leaned into her seat.
"Food stalls and restaurants? Did he consider the Li family?" She asked.
Within Shenzhen, Li Meili's family business owned several chains of restaurants. If Ye Xiaozu wanted a partnership with the Lis, he should reach out to Meili's older brother, Li Yuanyi. Her best friend wasn't interested in joining the family business, hence Meili wouldn't be able to assist them this time.
"He did but Li Yuanyi denied him. He said that if it is us who were asking for the favor, he might consider. I think he still doesn't believe that Xiaozu would be able to run Ye Corporation on his own." Lu Tianxin said with a solemn tone.
She couldn't understand why people were doubting Ye Xiaozu's ability. Although his father had made a lot of mistakes when he was still alive, why did Ye Xiaozu have to suffer because of his father's poor choices?
"It's alright, Tianxin. It shall pass. He just needs some time and exert a little more effort to prove to everyone that he's capable." Tang Moyu said as she noticed the troubled expression on her cousin.
"Thanks, Moyu. I hope it will. I'm sure once the project is done, those naysayers won't be able to say another word against him." Lu Tianxin replied, her mood a little better from the empress's assurance.
At that moment, Cheng Ning came inside of Tang Moyu's office and handed her boss a heart shaped box of chocolates.
If it came from a random stranger again, she would have to ask Cheng Ning to dispose of it in her stead. Ever since she was dragged away and unexpectedly lost her innocence five years ago, Tang Moyu had been very careful and paid extra attention to any food and drink she received from anyone, especially if it came from a stranger.
However, she realized that the box of chocolate came from the devil himself, although he didn't even sign his own name on the card.
"Real roses don't seem appropriate for my darling. I hope it's to your liking."
Tang Moyu's lips curled into a slight smile and opened the box, revealing a dozen of chocolates molded in the form of roses. He hadn't given her anything since they became a couple, but she had never asked him for anything in the first place, so what changed?
It was probably because he said he wanted to get more involved with her as her boyfriend. Although he wasn't able to take her out for dinner dates, Feng Tianyi still wanted to make her feel special.
"Ohhh… is it from Mr. Qin?" Lu Tianxin gave her a teasing grin. She had heard from Meili that her cousin and the handsome author living with Moyu were now a couple and she couldn't help but be happy for the two.
Although Lu Tianxin had to admit that she was surprised to discover that the famous Qin Jiran and the devil, who was supposed to be Feng Tianhua's older brother, was the same person. What a small world, she thought.
"Mr. Qin?" Tang Moyu arched a brow at her.
Lu Tianxin shrugged. Everyone seemed to be more comfortable calling the devil Qin Jiran, even after they found out about his identity.
"Well, he's still Qin Jiran, isn't he? And I don't think it would be good if Feng Tianhua found out that his half-brother is back," she winked at the empress. What she left unsaid was that she was curious about how Feng Tianhua would react upon knowing that the woman he had cast aside ended up with his brother.
For the first time, Lu Tianxin had seen her cousin truly happy with someone. Growing up, Tang Moyu had been an outcast among their peers because of her off putting 'perfection'. It also didn't help that Moyu's mother was so controlling that she won't allow young Moyu to spend time and make friends with anyone. Moyu's schedule was constantly packed with multiple lessons that were forced on her instead.
So for Lu Tianxin, seeing Tang Moyu beside someone who truly cared for her, she was willing to support her cousin's decision. Even the coldest and most aloof empress deserved to be loved and cared for.
"Anyway, I'll tell Xiaozu to try to convince Li Yuanyi again. We might be able to complete the project, but he wouldn't be able to open the place if he is lacking support."
