Calm Before the Storm 1
Surprisingly, Ye Xixi had not made any attempts to stopp Ye Xiaozu and had instead started helping her nephew in running their family business properly. At least, she wanted to see Ye Corporation prosper under Ye Xiaozu's management rather than see it in shambles because she offended Tang Moyu and the Qing Tian Group.
Still, the empress couldn't shake off this feeling that something was about to happen. Even Gu Yuyao and Feng Tianyi could tell that she was being restless these days.
"Moyu? Is there something on your mind? I hope I'm just imagining things, but you look...." Gu Yuyao tapped her chin as she thought of the right word to describe the empress. "You look like you're on guard about something. Are you and Feng Tianyi, alright?"
The two had just recently got together and it's totally normal if they argue, but something about Tang Moyu's action says that she was on the edge about something.
"No, we are fine, Yaoyao. But I keep feeling that something might just happen soon. I really hope that my instinct is wrong this time, but I just can't help it." The empress replied, her pen stopping midway as she thought about why she kept feeling unsettled these days.
There weren't any major issues so far in Tang enterprise after they came to an agreement for their deal with Ye Corporation and her relationship with Feng Tianyi was doing well. Even her little buns were safe and healthy, so what was causing her to feel this way?
"Are you sure? Just tell me if Feng Tianyi is bullying you. I don't mind teaching him a lesson." Gu Yuyao tried to make Lu Tianxin laugh from her seat.
"Now, now, Sister Yaoyao, leave them alone. I'm sure Moyu can manage on her own." Lu Tianxin said before turning to her cousin with concern. "If you have something weighing on your mind, you can tell us. If there's nothing, perhaps you are just too stressed from work these past weeks."
Since they already settled the problem with Ye Corporation, Tang Moyu didn't need to oversee the construction of the project with Lu Tianxin around.
Tang Moyu slumped on her seat and removed her spectacles before sighing.
"Perhaps, you are right." She agreed. She might be overthinking and nothing was about to happen.
"You can go home early after reviewing these papers, Miss Moyu." Cheng Ning told her with a smile. "You've already settled all urgent and high priority documents, the rest can wait."
"Pleasure to help you around, Miss Moyu." She replied to the empress.
And with that, Tang Moyu finished her remaining paperwork before packing to head home early. She was really looking forward to relaxing and having a good night's sleep.
When she came home and arrived at the guest house, she found her little buns slumped in the sitting area brushing their dog's fur. Hunter had dramatically grown over the past weeks since he joined the family.
Hunter, owned by Feng Tianyi, was given to him by his mother. But he was fiercely loyal to the twins rather than to the devil, his actual owner. He would follow them around ever since he was a small puppy. He also didn't mind if Little Star put small pink ribbons on top of his head and allowed Xiao Bao to lean his small body against him while they laze together on the carpeted floor.
"Hi, Mommy! You are early today!" Little Star dropped the brush from her hand and ran towards Tang Moyu, wrapping her arms on her thigh.
"Mommy finished early today. What's up?" She asked as she picked her daughter up and dropped her bag on the couch before going to the kitchen, where Feng Tianyi was.
"Ah, Moyu." Feng Tianyi saw her place Little Star on top of the counter. "Dinner isn't done yet. Want to munch on something while you wait?" He asked, hoping she hadn't missed her lunch again.
Tang Moyu politely declined his offer and kissed the tip of her daughter's nose, earning a giggle from Little Star.
"I can wait for dinner. I just came home to rest early." She admitted. The devil nodded in approval. For someone as busy as the empress, she sure needed some time off for herself. He wished she could have more of that time but he understood the pressure that the position brings, so all he could do is just cook her favourite meals as a form of moral support.
Their dinner passed by without interruption, filled with the twins chattering about how they spent their day in the garden with their Daddy Ji and how they tried to give Hunter a bath that afternoon after the dog decided to roll on the mud, creating a huge mess on the porch.
"Oh? It seems like my babies aren't the only ones who want to play. Even Hunter wanted to have some fun too." Tang Moyu commented, laughing. Now that they had accepted her relationship with Feng Tianyi, his nickname had been promoted from Uncle Ji to Daddy Ji overnight.
Seeing that the three were getting along well, Tang Moyu hoped that it would be easier for her to convince her children to go back to school soon. In a few months, they would be turning five and she hoped by then they would've already made new friends with other kids their age.
Just as Tang Moyu thought she could end her night peacefully, spending time with Feng Tianyi and her children, Auntie Lu came in a hurry to meet her.
"Moyu, someone is looking for you." The woman said with a paled face.
"Who?"
"It's Miss Wanyu, Moyu."
Tang Moyu raised a brow when she heard that. Why could her older sister possibly want from her?
