“Good beginning of your regularly scheduled leisure period, all you denizens of the Multiverse! This is MNN and I’m your host, He Who Proclaims! Welcome back to Beautiful Butterflies, where we analyze the smallest possible decision that could change your life forever!”
“And for our lucky contestant this time…it’s Lilussees! The…Sleepy Dungeon Master? Well that’s a girl who knows what she wants out of life! Which is…not to be conscious for most of it. But hey, she’s following her dreams, literally!”
“Now let’s review, what was the most fateful minor decision Lilussees ever made in your universe…deciding to get up in the morning? Well that’s just poetic, isn’t it, a decision we all have to make each and every day. A symbolic choice between life and death…but in this case the choice was literal! What would have happened if Lilussees hit the snooze button? Let’s take a look and find out!”
Lilussees groaned and turned over in her bed. She felt as if her room was a bit too hot.
So she turned over to the other side, searching for a cool part in the room…
Lilussees twisted this way and that but she couldn’t fall asleep. Her room was just too hot for some reason. She scratched her back. Then she chittered, and spun around, trying to make herself comfortable.
Sleeping in the heat sucked, but being awake in the heat was worse. So Lilussees tried to force herself back into sleep.
As such, Lilussees didn’t notice two intruders outside the window to her room. At least, not until her bed caught fire. Her eyes shot open.
“Oh. That’s, like, bad, huh?”
There was a flash of light and Lilussees found herself lying on…a bunch of clouds?
Huh.
Well the clouds were comfy so she closed her eyes…
Lilussees’s eyes suddenly shot open. Wait, she had eyelids now?!
Lilussees thought for a second, and then shrugged.
The clouds were comfy and figuring out what was going on was, like, so much work, or something.
Suddenly there was a flash of light and someone appeared before her. It was a beautiful woman, dressed in robes so bright they seemed forged from light itself. Her beauty was so great it made Lilussees feel unworthy, as if it was a crime for her to even stand here. But the smile on the woman’s face and light in her eyes filled Lilussees’s heart with peace, assuring her that all would be well.Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.
Lilussees grabbed onto that feeling. If, like, everything was going to be ok, then she didn’t need to deal with it, or something.
“Greetings, oh noble herooooo…WAIT, A BABY?! Just what is going on?!”
Lilussees winced. It was far too early in the…whatever time it currently was for shouting. The woman clutched her head.
“You’re supposed to be a gloomy teenage boy! Why are you a baby?!”
Lilusses glanced up at her, then tried to cover her ears. Was this, like, an Aesdes, or something? Somehow she thought the Aesdes would be a bit more…quiet? Solemn? Well, whatever.
There was a flash of light and an angel appeared.
“Most Holy Ione, um, there’s something you need to know.”
“What is it, Miniel?! We’re in a bit of a situation here!”
Miniel frowned.
“That’s exactly what I need to tell you. Apparently, there’s some really weird stuff going on with the universe you tried to pull a hero from. Like, the entire timeline is destabilized at the moment. One person even got ejected from the universe entirely.”
“So?”
“So…the spell was deflected, and shot after the person who got ejected. It, um, appears to have grabbed the closest near-death target.”
Ione scratched her head.
“So you’re saying…we got someone totally random from an entirely different universe?”
Miniel slowly nodded.
“Unfortunately, that appears to be the case. In fact…she may not even have been human from the looks of things, and was only a few weeks old. Which is why she, um, is a bit young.”
Ione clutched her head.
“ARGH! Are you saying I have to summon ANOTHER hero?! Right away?! That’s like…so much work!”
Miniel shrugged.
“Well, you could try to use this one? In, um, a couple decades maybe.”
Ione shook her head.
“Not possible! Miniel! The Dark Lord can only be defeated by an unremarkable, lonely, slightly gloomy teenage boy from the nation of Japan in the world called Earth! I’m supposed to imbue him with great power and glorious purpose, then he’ll defeat the Dark Lord, seduce all the powerful and troublesome beings in the world, and revolutionize technology, cooking, and culture with the knowledge he brings over! Here, check it out, it says so right here in the sacred texts!”
Ione thrust a glowing screen in front of Miniel, who frowned.
“M-Most Holy Ione…is this not…a site for webnovels?”
Ione heaved a sigh.
“Well, whatever. I guess we have to deal with her or something? Just find some family who wants a kid or something.”
Miniel bowed her head.
“As you will.”
Lilussees vaguely heard some people talking but these clouds were oh so comfy. She slowly drifted off to sleep…
Lilussees awoke and yawned. She stretched her arms. She blinked as she looked around the room.
And then she froze.
She had eyelids. And six less eyes than normal.
She held up her hands. She also had…well…hands now. And four less limbs than normal. She looked down at her body. She blinked at the sight.
So…she was a human now, for some reason.
Lilussees blinked several times.
Then shrugged and curled up in her crib. Oh well, figuring it out would be, like, so much work.
Lilussees decided to prepare herself for that work with a nice nap. After all, she had a new circadian rhythm to test!
And so Isekai Lilussees began her new life…as a human.
