Lena's mouth filled with a metallic taste. Despite bracing for the impact, it didn't protect her tongue from her teeth.
"Come now, princess. I don't imagine you thought things would go this way." The other seemed far less fazed about the matter than she did. This didn't bode well for the situation at hand. He somehow retained a certain amount of his sanity. Choosing to take back control of the wheel before the car struck the barricade.
"Keep your hands on the wheel." Lena took the safety off the gun and kept it pointed towards the other.
"Do you really still think that you're in a position to be making such demands? I'm still the person sitting behind the wheel do I need to remind you of that again?"
"You try anything again and you will find a bullet planted in your head quicker than you can blink." The driver let out a low, harsh laugh.
"I highly doubt your reflexes can match mine. You can try though if you want. If you do, keep in mind it would be rather tricky for you to take control. Taking into account where we are right now, you would need to do it in about ten seconds. You want to try?" Lena narrowed her eyes at the Jovani. Forcing herself to keep her eyes focused on him rather than turn to look behind. One wrong move and the crazy man would likely throw everything into chaos again.
"If you keep pushing me, I would be more than willing to try my luck. Better than being stuck with you."
"really, you wound me, princess. Here I thought that our relationship was finally starting to get better. You were even willing to share your oh-so-precious pipe with me." The man licked his lips as though savory the flavor.
"Sometimes, I have good reasons for doing things that don't quite benefit me." Lena replied."Now, I want you to either keep going to the place you said we were heading to or pull over." The further they went, the thicker the traffic started to become. Potentially involving innocent in an altercation that didn't have anything to do with them didn't bode well with her. Damn it... where did the person she need go? Didn't the promised time already pass?
"You have a rather sour expression on your face, Princess. Do you not like being around all this traffic?" At least the crazy human held some form of observation skills.action
"Perhaps you don't want something to happen with all these people here? Such as me letting go of the wheel again?" Jovani took his eyes off the road to study Lena's expression. Despite the neutral expression on her face, her eyes indicated the internal conflict occurring.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything right now. I would hate for the police to get involved. In case you didn't notice, they're only two lanes across from us." Glancing over, Lena saw the other was right. Not one, but two police cars were driving two lanes over from them. Shit... the gun needed to go down for now. If they caught sight of it, the car would get pulled over.
"That's a good girl. You don't want anything to happen to anyone. You keep that down for now and everything will go smoothly." Jovani kept a tight grip on the steering wheel. Speeding up in order to pass the police and get out of the thickest part of traffic. One would think with it being so late, there wouldn't have been any more rush-hour traffic. Apparently, nightlife in New Jersey managed to stay quite alive and well.
"I'm not doing this for you so don't get the wrong idea." Lena hissed. Keeping the gun down didn't mean not being able to point it at the other.
"At the other junction, I want you to get off the interstate." He quickly rejected the request.
"That isn't something I can really do, Princess. We have somewhere we need to be. Getting off the interstate would create too big of a detour. No way would we be able to get there in time."
"I don't care about that anymore. I'm telling you that I want you to get off the interstate." She pressured, moving the gun across the seat to press against the other's leg.
"Can't really say I've been a fond fan of the feeling of a cold, metal gun. Even clothes don't prevent the chill from seeping through."
"Of course it doesn't. Maybe what you're feeling though is an internal chill knowing how serious I am right now. Knowing that I am extremely close to pulling the trigger on this gun if you don't listen." Jovani let out another harsh laugh despite swapping lanes.
"You act as though you think I've never been shot before. Certainly not a pleasant experience but likely wouldn't die from being shot there."
"No, but two inches to the right might change that." Lena warned. One of the best things her father taught her early was human anatomy. Even with her eyes closed, she knew where to aim to kill."
"You wouldn't be so willing to kill your fiancé's cousin, now would you? I don't think that would go over very well with him." Lena hummed softly in response to this. Glancing to her left, she could see they were approaching the next exit. How much more stalling needed to be done?
"I don't think that he would mind if he saw how you are right now. Get off at this exit." She pushed the gun harder against his leg in an attempt to get him to obey.
"Touchy touchy princess. If you really want me to do, I can. I don't think it will go the way you want it to."
"You're right. I think that you will it'll go better than anticipated." Something out of the corner of her eye took away some of the intense pressure felt. Didn't mean everything would be settled yet though.
"You sound confident? Perhaps waiting for something to happen."
"Yes, in fact, I am. I'm waiting for the chance to shoot you the next time you do something foolish."
"IT seems like you might exactly get the opportunity you're waiting for." Jovani waited until the last minute to do as requested, turning off the interstate to get off on the side road.
Turning off the main road meant traveling somewhere darker. Lena didn't mind though, she only needed to see the man sitting next to her. She just needed to keep an eye on the crazy human for a little while longer.
The sequence of what happened next moved too swiftly for the princess to follow as two shots rang out into the dark night sky. The sound echoing through the air.
